Applying for unemployment benefits can be complicated, so we put together these resources to help you navigate.
What is it called?
The Department of Labor and Opportunity runs the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA).

Online Filing Schedule
- Last names beginning with letters A-L: file claims on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
- Last names beginning with letters M-Z: file claims on Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays.
- Saturdays will be available for anyone to accommodate those who could not file during their allotted window.
Tips for applying online:
- Website load times will be slow. Click a link once, and if necessary, wait for the response without clicking again
- Apply online during non-peak hours, 8PM - 8AM
