What is it called?
The State of Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) runs the state's Unemployment Insurance (UI) program.

Online
The recommended way to file a claim in Hawaii is online. The process takes about 30 minutes to complete.
File online during these times only:
- Monday through Friday: 6:30AM - 11PM HST
- Weekends and Holidays: 9AM - 11PM HST
How to file:
You must first create an online account here.
You will need a valid email address in order to set up your account. Within a few minutes of creating your account, you will receive an email containing your temporary password. You can then create a permanent password and proceed with filing.First time filers can file here.
Info you need to apply
You will need the following information handy when you apply for benefits:
- Email address
- Social security number
- Contact information and dates of employment for all of your employers over the past 18 months
- Bank Account type (savings or checking)
- Financial institution routing number
- Your bank account number (for direct deposit)
