Airlines Challenge New Disability Travel Rule
• Major U.S. airlines are challenging a new Department of Transportation rule expanding rights for passengers with disabilities, arguing it exceeds the agency's authority.
• The rule, effective January 16th but with enforcement delayed until March 20th, mandates annual staff training, stronger assistance standards, and automatic violations for damaged or delayed wheelchairs.
• While claiming dedication to inclusive travel, the airlines' petition to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals seeks to overturn parts of the rule they deem unlawful. #AWU #disability

"Job Description Insight"
What does it mean when in the job descriptionit says "We're Looking for a Rockstar/Ninja"?
Well it usually means they don't have a firm grasp on what they are looking for.
When the job description uses words like “rockstar,” “ninja,” or “guru,” that’s less about your skills and more about their lack of direction. What does a ninja even do – sneak into meetings unnoticed?
This kind of language usually means unclear roles, impossible expectations, or a desperate attempt to seem “cool.” Spoiler: it’s not. Beware and be careful! #AWU #disability #jobs

"Interview Tip" Question!
Tell me about your previous employer or boss, what are some things they could do to improve?
Be careful! This question is tricky. It is asked to see if you are going to speak negatively about your previous employer. Most agree speaking negatively about a previous employer/boss is a red flag in an interview and can cost you the job.
I believe it is OK to be truthful, but how do you present it? An example might be, "My relationship with previous employer/boss was a professional one. At times, however, there were communication issues. Not just with me, but with my co-workers also. When that happened, I would simply revisit the task to make sure I understood what was expected of me." #disability #jobs #interviewtip #AWU

"Interview Tip"
A question NOT to ask at the end of your Interview!
Did I Get the Job?
Many people ask this question in jest, while others pose it genuinely. However, this question that can be perceived as presumptuous, unprofessional, and even insecure. Please refrain from asking it.
The interviewer may not be the final decision maker. What is fair to ask in my opinion is "Do I have your support"? If you ask this question, however, be prepared for the interviewer to give you a negative response or no response which is the same. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtip

"Interview Tip"
Employers are looking for employees who can switch gears when their plan or idea fails, and own up to their failure afterward.
Adaptability as an in-demand job skill — especially now as artificial intelligence is finding its way into workplaces. Are you Adaptable?
Anyone who's never wrong, or anyone who will never admit they're wrong, is going to be tough to work with. Because everyone's wrong at some point. It is what you do then. Can you then pivot from what you have been doing and figure a way to correct things? Simply put, are you Adaptable?
Here is a question you may be asked during a job interview. "Tell me a story about when you were really sure about something and found out you were completely wrong." Your response should be detailed with facts about how you pivoted and corrected things. Leave emotion out of it. #AWU #disability #interviewtips
