Took a pay-cut and finally a job offer!!
***UPDATE-SEE UPDATE BELOW ***
After a month of applications the last 2 weeks have been wonderful. I’ve had several interviews, 3 more scheduled and so far 1 job offer. I have feeling I may be offered 1 or 2 more.
I’ve had to be submitted to jobs paying $12,000-$16,000/yr less than what I’ve made in the past. That’s $6-$8/hr less! I guess that’s to be expected after being unemployed for over a year.
What are your thoughts on taking a pay cut to get in the door?
Regardless, I’m feeling blessed.
UPDATEUPDATEUPDATE All interviews went great. I’ve received multiple job offers. 3 offers and expecting 1 more. Could this be leveraged to negotiate my salary? Would you mention the other offers to the each employer?

i am interested

19 an hour and had wonderful benefits. Yes it has been difficult to adjust. I only left that job and that city due to some personal stuff. I am 30 and had to move back home after 11 years. I am trying to maintain and remain optimistic it's hard girl lol. But I just applied with my same company and I got another position I'll be making a dollar more lol but I will only have a 5 minute commute to work versus 30 minutes right now. God has been good to me. This whole process has just taught me patience and humbleness.

Angela Easterling just saw the update...way to go!!! Yes, there's a lot you can do here but make sure you keep focused on the position you are most excited about. Even if it's a little less money, being happy, challenged and excited to go to work every day can be worth way more in the long run. If the first job offer is the one you are most excited about, maybe just let them know that you've received a few other offers for more money but they are still your top choice and very politely, ask if there's any room to move the salary up to a certain level. Let us know how things go!

I took a huge pay cut I make so much less at 30. I am grateful for this job in the bank but I havent made 11 an hour in over 10 years. I'm not feeling it I'm grateful but it is humbling

Hi Angela Easterling , I can understand how accepting a lower paying employment opportunity creates more job opportunities particularly if you’re presenting with a concerning employment gap. I’m most cases, in fact, it’s the Wise thing to do.
Were you able to negotiate any alternative compensation options like PTO or schedule flexibility within this job offer? This might be something worth talking about during your future performance reviews. Pay close attention to the career progression culture at your new job. Does that company train and encourage talented employees to progress to better roles?
Make a plan to meet regularly with your immediate supervisor and let him/her know about your interest in cultivating new skills to pursue bigger job opportunities. Don’t stress this point right away. Use the first 90 days on the job to WOW your leaders with your positive energy, consistent attendance, quick learning ability and all the other skills and talents that make you exceptional!
Congrats on your new job Angela Easterling !! best of luck moving forward and please remember to come back and share your progress with this community :-)

Angela Easterling It's great to hear you've been having success on the interview trail! I know it can be tough to take a pay cut when you know you and your skills are worth more but sometimes it's a step in the right direction. I think it shows a lot of character to embrace a new role and show what you can do in your new company and grow from there. Getting back into the workforce is a big step forward! Best of luck in the new role and show your new team how great you are!

Sometimes we do have to make compromises in order to get back on our feet. Now that you'll be working soon, you can start to plan your next moves toward better paying jobs and/or jobs that are more in line with your career. However, there is a huge advantage to being employed even if the job doesn't suit your ideals. So, congrats on starting this journey! I'm sure you'll get back to where you were and beyond soon enough.
Sometimes you do what you have to do. As long as you can still pay your bills, take the job.
