How would you advise recent high school graduates? Would you recommend they pursue a degree or try to jump right into the work force?
Jump right in gain experience with experience comes knowledge, start with a entry level position then stay with them for a while
I would recommend they take a money management , eco omic and credit building class to be aware how to manage the little bit ant to grow it successfully

In my opinion, starting from the ground and learning every department or level and working your way up, is the way to go. I started my first job in fast food as a crew member and worked my up. I went from cleaning lobbies, sweeping floors and Stacking trays to cashier. I went from front end order taker to drive thru order taker to making the food and finally managing my own store. Knowing more than one job in any business makes you indispensable.
