The employer or recruiter has your resume, but still expects you to fill out a long job application, or visa versa. They have your job application, but also want a Resume or CV. Seems like its like they are checking off boxes even if the request is a waste of time for you and them. Sort of like a teacher who sends home, home work for the sake of home work. Even if its not related to the work done in class.

I have been shown a number of resumes with poor grammar and errors in spelling. Some of these individuals have degrees from prestigious colleges and universities. They were immediately disqualified. I am recently retired and no longer have to send out my resume. Please take my advice and thoroughly proofread your resume before sending it to potential employers. This may make the difference in landing you your dream job, sending you on your way to a long and successful career.

Resumes are kept short and concise in order to make the selection process "easier" for the hiring company. Understandable. However, that makes it difficult to showcase the character, integrity, grit and passion of a candidate. I have found in my 23 year professional career that the best companies to work for have been the ones willing to focus time and energy on getting to know their candidates and their willingness to take the chance on candidates (includes my peers) that are willing to use their strengths outside their documented skill sets in order to become successful and impact the business. The critical question is...how does this "perfect" match come together? In my opinion, it takes flexibility on both parts. Companies need to learn how to change the paradigm and think outside the resume box. Candidates need to invest in themselves and learn ways to become unique and marketable. Hiring and getting hired is the biggest challenge in today's workplace. Nothing is rocket science, well except rocket science, and can be learned. Let's do this together to work toward a common goal of success!

I'm looking for feedback about how I can resolve a resume issue regarding title. After being laid off from my previous job, I accepted a position earlier this year at a large corporation. I immediately realized it was the wrong culture and wrong role so I am job hunting again. The problem is my current title does not accurately reflect the level of work I perform nor that of my previous roles. I previously held Director and above roles and this one is a manager role even though I am performing director-level work (team management, strategy development, budgeting, hiring, firing etc). Any ideas of how I can reposition my title (the description will appropriately define my senior-level responsibilities) so I don't get excluded for appropriate level roles because of my current title?

I'm studying this morning for my leadership class again. I just found my library books. I want to apologize to those here on Jobcase that sought my resume help who couldn't pay and I didn't know how to bend my policy.
