For Unknown Reason

I worked for a law firm for 24 years and out of the blue, I was terminated a word I had never heard before. My work performance was never questioned. When I asked why was I being terminated, I was told that he could not tell me!!!, but that I could either sign a letter of resignation and get a 4 week severance or not sign and get nothing. I was then told that I would need to leave the office with just my purse and that my belongings would be sent to me. I was treated as though I stole something and to this day I still have no clue as to what I did. He apparently indicated that he would not tell anyone, which because I have known this attorney for a number of years, trust me he has. I now feel as though, I am being blackballed when I apply for jobs.

So sorry to hear about your experiences at work Brian. This is a free website that can help you identify and search for employment harassment resources within your state - - http://www.nolo.com/. In the meantime make sure you're keeping a log of specific instances with witnesses in case you need to provide proof.

Brian, I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you're having! These are serious things you're describing and it sounds like you need a lawyer. There are lots of free resources on the web; try this link to the legal services team at Cornell University: https://www.law.cornell.edu/justanswer_interstitial. And make sure to keep copies of anything that supports your position. Good luck!
