"Interview Tip"

Here are a few phrases you should never say at a job interview:

❌ "I’m just here for the paycheck." ❌ "I don’t have any weaknesses." ❌ "Sorry I’m late…" ❌ "What does your company do again?"

Why? Because if you do there is a very good chance you will NOT get the job. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips

Declining College Major Salaries

• A new report from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) reveals declining starting salaries for graduates in several popular college majors, including social sciences and communications.

• Social science graduates are projected to see a 3.6 percent drop in starting salaries in 2025, while communications graduates face a projected 3 percent decrease.

• Conversely, fields like engineering and computer science continue to show strong salary growth, highlighting a widening gap between high-paying technical fields and those in the liberal arts.

• Experts suggest this trend reflects a disconnect between the cost of higher education and return on investment, forcing students to prioritize financially secure careers over passion.

• The shift is prompting concerns about the future of liberal arts education and the need for colleges to better emphasize the transferable skills these majors offer.

"Resume Tip"

Customize! Customize! Customize!

Why are you not customizing your resume?

While sending the same resume out to every job may make the process easier, there’s a big benefit to tailoring it each time based on the job description.

Look for keywords in the job description, and then tweak your resume to mimic these responsibilities.

For example, if the first requirement in the job description mentions “proficient in Adobe Photoshop,” make sure Adobe Photoshop is listed on your resume. #AWU #disability #jobs #resumetips

Hard Skills vs. Soft Skills

Your hard skills are replaceable. Your softskills aren't.

Be that person that everone can count on. The person who is the best listener, communicator, has a great attitude, and behaves accordingly. Make it hard to replace you because everyone enjoys you being around. #AWU #disability #jobs

"Interview Tip"

Prepare Examples of Your Skills and Experience for your interview.

Showcase your professional skills and competencies based on the job specifics you have applied for. Have these ready in your mind so you respond seamlessly.

For example, if you have worked in Sales, you refer to the impressive numbers you have achieved. That speaks to how you can bring value to the company. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips

"Interview Tip"

Be Mindful of the Day and Time Your Interview Takes Place

The Date and Time your interview takes place matters and could affect its outcome. Interviewing early in the week and early in the day is possibly better because the interviewers won’t be tired from conducting numerous interviews. This means they will be much more present and energetic during your interview.

So if you have a choice, choose early week and early day if possible and do your best to read the room once you are in there with the interviewers. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips
