Gani Turker
I am at 62 as well. Two years ago I honorably retired after a 35+ years of loyal service as the Human Resources manager of the U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Europe Region, Turkey. During my entire career in management positions to include retail store manager and operations manager, I gladly and passionately served the U.S. Armed Forces members and their loved ones. I retired because I was given the right by the U.S. Government to become a Lawful Permenant Resident. I now have all the rights to work for any employer in the States, but as rightfully mentioned, despite all the successful interviews, and the interviewing managers' nice words about my background and resume, non of them returned me with an answer despite their assuring words that they would definitely get back to me to let me know of the status. In the begging I did not want to thihk that, I'have been facing an age discrimination, but when it went on the same way, it was apparent that my age was their problem although they wouldn't admit it. This is sad to experience these in a country that freedom, transparency, democracy and equatiy values are some of the core values of this nation.

Is anyone having a hard time finding a career with their masters in human resources. They all say need experience but how can you when no one will give you a chance so you can get experience.

Nepotism
I’ve been working in a place where there is pure nepotism in Washington DC. How do I report it?

Confused about what to do
A few weeks ago, probably around a month or so ago, I was hired. However, I have not heard about when I am scheduled to come in or when I should start working. I think I was hired in September. I completed my background check and paperwork. I even went through training and got the uniforms for work a few weeks ago.
I've been trying to contact HR but I haven't had much luck. Should I drop by and ask? I'm afraid that I might come off as too clingy and then they won't want me to work there. I am also afraid that I ended up being a no show because they scheduled me for work but I didn't receive the schedule. This is a place I wanted to work at since I was a child. Should I just continue to wait? #hired #joboffer #startdate
UPDATE: I got a schedule! Thanks for all the advice everyone. I really appreciate it.

Answer
Contact your HR Dept and let them know you took the position to work evenings and were told upon hiring that it would be 2 weeks then you would start and that hasn't happened yet and it's beginning to disrupt your husband's schedule with whom he is the bread winner in the family
Remember to cc your supervisor on the bottom of the letter

70+ applications
I have applied to so many jobs. Jobs that I am well qualified for. Only 4 interviews and have yet to be chosen for 1. Going into target tomorrow since I’m not good enough for administrative duties. As a previous leasing consultant who quit her job without notice. I feel it may be time to be honest about why i quit. Since simply lying and saying “ I was looking for new opportunities” isn’t working. The truth is that for the first time in my career I had never been treated so badly by a manager. I went through the correct supervision about the issue. Nothing happened. I still had so many great connections and friends from my last company that I decided to quit instead of bringing in HR. It’s biting me in the behind now though. In so many ways. I honesty feel worthless with this job search.

companies should put humanity back into "human resources"
Unfortunately, many managers who work in -"human resources" have very little humanity in them. Rather than understanding and empathizing with the candidate, rather than treating others as they would want to be treated, they do everything "by the book" by enforcing company rules. This reflects the attitude of upper management. If upper management truly believed that "people are our most important resource", they would staff human resources with caring, empathetic personnel rather than uncaring, robotic legalistic rules enforcers. You were fortunate you found this out before you joined that inhuman company.

I was interviewed twice for the same job within a month's time. I was informed by the HR people that I "failed my oral interview" the second time. I then asked if they could tell me what my weak points were on the interview and what I need improvement on.
I was interviewed twice for the same job with a month's time and after the second time I was informed later by HR that I was not a candidate (and not even for a sub) because I "failed the oral interview." I never heard of such a thing! I then thanked them for the message and then asked what my weak points were and what would I need to improve on next time. I didn't get an answer on that yet. Are the HR people supposed to tell me what my weak points were or is that an option? Sometimes I think that these folks will hire "someone's relative" or a friend of theirs-favoritism. thank you
