The holiday season is approaching, and many companies, especially in the retail industry, are hiring seasonal positions to manage the increased demand. Below are some pros and cons to consider when deciding if a seasonal job is right for you.

Pros:

  • Build Your Resume: Seasonal roles can fill skill gaps, such as gaining front-end experience in retail, which may benefit your long-term career.
  • Get a Foot in the Door: Working temporarily can showcase your abilities to a company and possibly lead to a permanent role.
  • Fill Resume Gaps: Seasonal jobs show future employers that you’re proactive and willing to work.

Cons:

  • Low Pay: Most seasonal positions offer minimum wage or close to it, which may not be worth the extra time if you’re already busy. Although this is not always the case. There are lots of companies that are paying well for seasonal jobs!
  • Limited Training: Expect a quick overview rather than detailed instruction, so you need to be prepared to learn on the go.
  • Challenging Schedules: Seasonal work often requires evening and weekend hours, which could conflict with your current commitments.

What are your thoughts about getting a seasonal job? Is there a company you would recommend that offers good temp positions during the holidays?

Did you hear?? Santa Clause may not be coming to your town this year 🎅

Reports show that there has been a significant spike in demand this year, but a decrease in those willing to be a Santa's helper.

"Santas are typically older men who are in a higher risk category for complications if they contract COVID-19. That has some hanging up their beard and boots."

So it seems that no matter how naughty or nice you've been this past year, Santa may not be hurrying down any chimneys this holiday season...

What are YOUR thoughts on this nationwide Santa Shortage?? Share in the comments below!
