As the holiday season approaches, retailers are intensifying their hiring efforts to manage the anticipated surge in demand. From major chains to specialty stores, the companies below are bringing on thousands of seasonal workers to fill various roles across their stores, distribution centers, and fulfillment facilities.

Macy’s

Macy’s will fill over 31,500 seasonal roles for its stores and supply chain locations through monthly hiring events. Benefits include discounts, early wage access, mental health and financial resources, and emergency financial support. You can apply on Jobcase for all available positions at Macy’s retail stores, $15-$40+/hr and distribution centers, $15-$50+/hr!

Amazon

Amazon plans to hire 250,000 full-, part-time, and seasonal workers for transportation and customer fulfillment roles, similar to last year's holiday hiring plans. Seasonal employees start at $18/hour, with benefits increasing total compensation to over $29/hour. Immediate contingent job offers are available after applying, and one-third of holiday hires return.

Dick’s Sporting Goods

Dick’s is hiring 8,000 seasonal associates this year, slightly down from last year. They hosted a “National Signing Day” on Oct. 8 but are continuing to accept applications until all positions are filled. Benefits include competitive pay, a 25%-40% discount, and optional DailyPay. Stores are closed on Thanksgiving but open on Black Friday.

Target

Target will hire about 100,000 seasonal employees, maintaining the same goal for several years. Employees earn $15-$24/hour and receive discounts, early pay options, and access to healthcare and counseling services. Current employees can work extra shifts through the On Demand program.

Walmart

Walmart hasn’t made a specific holiday hiring announcement but continues hiring throughout the year, offering additional hours to current associates as needed. This approach matches its 2023 strategy, reducing the number of holiday hires compared to previous years.

Bath & Body Works

The company plans to hire 30,000 seasonal associates for stores and 2,700 for distribution centers. They offer competitive wages, flexible hours, a 40% discount, and potential for long-term employment.

Kohl’s

Kohl’s did not disclose specific numbers for seasonal hires this year, similar to last year. Seasonal associates receive flexible schedules, weekly pay, a 15% discount, tuition coverage, and healthcare services. The national hiring event has already occurred, but applications are still open online.

Burlington

Burlington will hire 24,000 seasonal employees, including 1,500 full-time warehouse associates and 23,000 part-time store employees. Hiring events will continue through December. Corporate positions are also available in New Jersey, New York City, and Los Angeles.

J.C. Penney

J.C. Penney will hire over 10,000 seasonal associates across stores, focusing on truck teams in October and customer service roles in November. The company offers flexible schedules, referral bonuses, employee discounts, and potential for seasonal associates to transition to permanent roles.

Offering competitive pay, flexible schedules, and attractive benefits, these retailers are still accepting applications to build robust teams capable of delivering exceptional customer experiences during the busiest time of the year. Interested candidates should submit an online application today via the company’s career site. Good luck!

Also be sure to have your [elevator pitch] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/b7253760-b4f7-5094-b148-b567e55aaaf4) ready so you can quickly share information about your experience and background!

- Consider sending a greeting card Who doesn't love receiving a card this time of year? With the school year getting ready to start that also means the holiday season is going to get into gear. Some companies will be looking to hire to add people to staff for the next few months.

This is one of those periods where when all those applications have been piling up that they will now be sorting through.

Even if your looking for permanent work and you get a call to get a job that they say will only be temporary don't automatically say no for your sake. Sometimes permanent employment comes from the holiday hiring. If it doesn't then the brightside is you had a few months of work where you got experience and a paycheck and you can work on finding another job.

This is a way that retail tends to hire. They always slow down during the summer months before they do a big hiring blitz during the fall because they know they need people for holidays.

It's a good way to get a foot in the door. Just keep that in mind.
