What are your Super Hero soft skills?

Everybody has a different approach, unusual skills...

  • I can translate tech talk to laymen with a smile, without being condescending

  • I can turn a ticked off customer into a repeat customer and referral source in under 3 minutes

  • I look at things from every angle - makes for interesting conversations and creative solutions

Those skills are on some of my resumes- I work them into most initial calls.

I would LOVE to read about YOUR Super Hero soft skills.

I'm constantly signing up for and completing online courses. Self-paced and if the course includes video even better!

The classes keep me entertained & out of trouble - the knowledge (even from my Color Coach certificate) often comes in handy at work and when searching for jobs. In my experience employers like to see ongoing learning and growth.

A few years ago I was overseeing/training a team in the Phillipines, remotely - I took an intro to Tagalog course - the team and I worked on our communication skills together - along with better communication at the end - there was laughter and bonding - pretty sure a couple of CSRs really enjoyed correcting me.

I've been hired as a CSR because of a course I took on writing apps - even though the job had NOTHING to do with writing or supporting an app.

My Project Management training has never officially been used but I do apply much of what I learned in other areas.

Right now I'm taking Forensic Psychology and Communication Mastery - it will be interesting to see where that knowledge comes in handy in the future.

Beyond traditional education/college, what classes or hobbies have given you an up in your job hunt?

I love to hear how others keep growing and learning - especially when personal growth improves career opportunities.

Skills Learn & Gain Working in Retail

I really enjoyed working in retail. I started off as a Assistant Manager the I was promoted to Store Manager. I learn a lot of skills that help me throughout my years of working. Working in retail help me develop many skills because of the fast-pace and quickly changing environment. Learning about many skills help me discover how I can apply them to other careers that I had after leaving retail. Here are some skills that has help me, even now.

Customer service. Though many retail stores have dedicate customer service departments, on of my biggest responsibilities was to provide a positive experience for all customers.

Industry knowledge. Depending on what retail industry I worked, I knew I had to learn about specific products and services. Sometimes a company may require you to take tests to assess your knowledge.

Patience. Patience in retail is the ability to remain calm and attentive while helping customers with their needs. Learning patience definitely can help you manage your stress in the workplace.

If you looking to work in Retail go for it. Many opportunities for advancements.

Transitioning...

From years of daily commute, to creating a home office and still provide the best customer service right from my home. Customer service should be given top priority whether in person or by phone. I am looking for a company to provide all equipment to perform the job, any paid training to keep me up to date, a good hourly pay, and perhaps a stipend to set up my office, and in return what I can do is provide top notch service to their customers, build a good rapport with them and keep them coming back. Is there any company that is hiring right now because I need a good job as soon as possible? #workfromhome #customerservice #jobsearch
