Everyone tells me to follow my passion but is that enough to succeed? I’ve made so many mistakes and missed so many opportunities in the past over my conviction to follow passions and dreams that I’m beginning to question the validity of that idea. My original career goal was to be a Civil Engineer so I went to school, got my degree, and started looking for work but after years of unsuccessful attempts to land a engineering job I took on the first available opportunity in the construction trades. I’ve been working as a construction laborer for almost 5 years now while looking for an engineering job. 5 Years!! I could have been a master Electrician by now. I feel like I’m wasting too much time chasing career dreams and passions when I should be focusing on improving my abilities in the industry where I work now. Thoughts?
