Age Discrimination and Ghosting

I don't understand the job market anymore. My resume has been circulating 2 months before I lost my job in August 2020 when I noticed a trend within the company I was working for closing down our location in NY. Sure enough, after I was let go, the building was sold and NY has a skeleton crew but strong call centers throughout the country. (I'm still friends with a handful of people that still work there)....... Fast forward to today and I don't get it. I'm seeking to stay in e-commerce and the interviews I've had are excessive. I've worked in the same industry for 26 years on so many levels (manufacturing, wholesale B2B, retail, e-commerce B2C, and freelanced too) with a combined skill set of account management, sales, customer service, and interior design. Once I get to the Zoom meeting in the interview process and sometimes even without one, I'm ghosted or turned down. The most recent company I've had 4 interviews with! They passed me around like a hot potato to different department heads because I was overqualified with the position I first interviewed for. I thought I was on to landing a position but haven't heard anything in over a week! I've been interviewing with them since Oct 19th. During my 2nd interview I learned they were purchased by another company. I went to that website and saw a job opportunity and reached out to them and applied (.....again, I'm qualified for these 2 companies) ....got a response from the recruiter and interviewed on Monday 11/15/21 next day he gave me an assessment....and now waiting on a response...... I'm 55 years old and suspect age discrimination going on and will never be able to prove it. I'm used to interviewing processes that are usually 2 maybe 3 before an offer is made. Is anyone else finding the interview process out there to be excessive and cold with no respect for your time spent???!!!
