Would you prefer to use your real name or nickname while serving at the restaurant?
Some servers or bartenders use a nickname rather than their real name.
It sounds insincere, but it is more than that.
As a server and bartender, we have been serving so many people.
Some restaurant workers want to separate their work life and private life. Some of them have names that are not easy to pronounce or are different. It doesn’t feel right when the server tells their name and is stuck with the pronunciation for 10 minutes.

I understand this completely.
Regardless, I still try my best to remember my waiter/waitress's name and to look them in the eye when I speak to them.
These two very simple and you would think common actions bring surprise and often puts a smile on people's faces. Whether I'm in a drive through or at a table - treating those who serve us as human beings shouldn't be uncommon.
I guess it's a matter of personal preference. I used to work in retail, and it was always so creepy when people I don't know would address me by my first name. Name tag or not, it can be uncomfortable.
I think that is a good idea. It helps prevent crazies from tracking you down.
Nickname
I worked as a host moons ago in a small town restaurant where I did use my nickname just as that's the name people knew me by.
I can understand why someone might want to use a nickname or a different name, for sure! I'd rather use my real name just to make it less confusing for me hahaha, although it can be annoying when a guest mispronounces it repeatedly, or has a hard time with it! Great topic!

Nick name or real name whatever people are comfortable with I'm good with that 😉
I would rather use my real name.
I always used my real name when I was a server and a bartender. I felt it was more personal. I would often see my customers out of work and felt it built a better rapport if they knew my real name.
