Along with what Jaycee has stated which is all accurate be sure to pay attention to the little details. Store windows clean? Signs as required are up and look good? Restrooms are spotless?

50 years ago I worked for Radio Shack. The DM visited and stood in the parking lot staring at the store. What does the customer see? In fast food is the take out window clean? So when qualifying for a Retail Store Manager think about catching a pack of cats all scattering. There ya go now go after it.
