How involved is your government in deciding on different aspects of the work place?
When you look at how the job base is changing it's not just the technology that changes it. The dynamics start from the place of government. Creating laws that effect how you work and if what you enjoy will be there if not replaced by an android.People need interaction and things to invent otherwise that creates a bad environment.from Transportation to communication to aviation to warehousing to office work and accounting, there creating the technology to replace 80% of the work force. Technology can be great but it's taking the thought process away from everyday activity. What will persons do if there are machines available to do you everything? Will we just exist as persons. I think it's a control the government wants to do to its citizens meaning the persons in Washington DC now. It's almost like they have a hatred for the American public. The government wants to control ever aspect of our lives then replace your work and have you dependent on big brother with A cashless system created to take what you have t will. Very sad today how we live .
Thoughts on standing out
Do you bring problems to your boss? Solutions? or problems with suggested solutions?
Usually problem brew up to the person you report to. If everything is going fine, and if you know your authority well, then no need to bug anyone else - right? But when things go wrong, usually you need to check in with a Boss to either let them know, or to double-check your authority in addressing the problem.
Here's my 2 cents of advice - try to bring solutions when you surface an issue or problem. Even if its a suggestion. You will be seen in a constructive light, grease the wheels on promotions and goodies (titles, $$, benefits, etc.) and prob have more productive relationship. This isn't always possible, but whenever it is, pause and put a solution to the situation!

When Bullies become Bosses. Something CAN be done about it.
I have read again and again posts which talk about bosses who are complete Asses and Monsters.
There is an epidemic of people in leadership positions who are Bullies in the work place.

NO one should be subject to a bullying boss. I was terminated as the result of an individual who made it his mission to sabotage my position and succeeded.
How can I stay motivated in a negative work environment?
This is a new job and I’m doing more than my fair share of the work but my other co-workers spend their day chatting, gossiping, and walking around the office. Management is aware but doesn’t want to take on the ‘bad boss’ role. I like the work but the workplace is bringing me down.
