You need to know this!!

The manager who hired me told me this ONE THING is what got me hired - my volunteering experience! I helped my church with a monthly clothes closet and got lots of experience with customer service. She said it made me a stand-out candidate because I had that experience when other people didn't. So if you need a job, find a way to volunteer so you can get that extra boost to your resume. It really helped me out, it will probably work for you too.

After ThanksGiving

I just want to say its all how you feel about yourself mentally when you go on interviews or if you are looking for employment. Don't take rejection personal. Keep sending out resumes and never for once give up!!!!! I am a single mom who lost everything. I hit rock bottom and it never stopped raining in my life. I started to believe that this was my life!!!! I applied for so many jobs I think I got tired of applying. I started to lose confidence in me as a woman, as a mother and as a human being. When you lose a job you start to feel depressed, humiliated and embarrassed. I would get up every morning and just drive around in the morning until it was time to pick my son up from school. I felt that bad!!!! All the people I would see at the Unemployment office were all like me. They was desperate for a job and they wanted to feel like somebody again, like they mattered. But I can tell you it was not until I got down on my knees and I prayed to God that things started to turn around in my life. I started to volunteer. Believe it or not!!! I had so much time on my hand I volunteered for a nonprofit that helps adults learn to read and write. What an enjoyment!!!! If you want to do something rewarding and makes you feel good then volunteer!!! Once I started to volunteer I stopped feeling sorry for myself and I took some free computer courses that the library offered during the day, to tone up some of my skills like Excel and PowerPoint that I was weak in. Finally, all of those resumes that I had sent out people started calling me for interviews and I was ready!!!! Yes, it get tough sometimes, and you don't feel like getting out of the bed but it gets better as time goes by. I was lucky to have a job now as an administrative assistant for a nonprofit and then I got another job offer for the school system as a substitute teacher. Go knows our heart and if we are honest and humble to him he will open the gates of heaven full of treasures. Sometimes we all get scared, and we don't see a way out, and when people like myself keep talking about Praying, we turn away because our problems have taken the best of us. But if you can hold on, just hold on God will deliver!!!!! He will set your soul free!!! All it takes is for you to believe and have faith!!! Even when you don't have a penny in your pocket!!!! When you don't have food on the table!!!! Have faith!!!

Helping others.

I have volunteered quite alot of time to the elderly. They just couldn't afford to pay for their daily needs. I knew I was at a place in my life and could do all She needed help me. I love to take an interest in kids starting college. I know Small things like a meal and an ear to listen brings a giant smile on their tired little faces. Greatest gift giving.
