It has been almost a year since I've worked. I've applied to several job openings via the internet....signed up with several temp agencies and still no offers. I've applied for a position with Target, Macy, etc and I get the response that we've reviewed your resume, however, we've decided to pursue other candidates. My previous jobs were in the oil and gas industry....have talked with recruiters and I was told that employers are afraid to hire people like me because they can't afford to pay me what I was making with my previous job and also the fear that I will leave once the oil and gas industry is back. Wow....scrambling trying to figure out what is the next step.
I was working at a Temp Agency, they had placed me at a Hospital. They had me shadow people for a while and they had taken on other hospitals in the area to do their billing. So they were outgrowing the office, so I was working there I never had a desk I had to hope someone called out sick or go on vacation to get a desk.
So they had all these computer software programs to learn like 4 different one to do different things. I went to the manager and told her I was getting a little overwhelmed trying to remember what program does what. So she agreed to put me on one system and learn that, then we could move on to another one. I agreed.
I pretty much kept to my self, I just listen to all the gossip and dram around me. So after a coulple of months I got more comfortable with other employees and tried to be more friendly and evening going to lunch with them
So I ended up finishing the project they had me working on and worked started to slow down. So then they Manager calls me in and tell me that since I was overwhelmed with the software that she didn't think I would qualify for a job there, but she had opening coming open in about three months that I could apply to and felt I would be a good fit.
So with that said one of the employees that I had been going to lunch with stopped me and asked Why didn't they hire me.
All I simply said was since I told the manager that I was overwhelmed with the software she ran with it. Well, that employee when back to the Manager and twisted my words up.
Next thing I know the agency called me to say that I was spreading rumors about the Manager!! So the company told me I could not come back and the agency was just as surprised as me. I never felt so betrayed and hurt over this.
I didn't understand why she did that to me - what did she have to gain - she had a job.
I took a temp to perm position because I needed a job with a company to gain some knowledge 3d design and modeling. They had me working with a staffing agency for my 90 days. After a few months they offered me a perm position. They pay was lower than I was use to, but the people working there were really nice and I enjoyed my job. This company had just implemented new software and they had gotten the bill today for the support $25K. And I had just gave them my personal info (including my DOB, SSN and my drivers License). On the Background check I had written a 3rd party clause that stated that I wanted to opt out on having my personal info saved in their database (background check co). This form also contained my age. Which is a lot older then the people I was working with/for. Meanwhile, the bill for the software support had just arrived (about 1.5 hrs before) the bill was received or submitted. I was called into the owners office and they stated that my offer had been withdrawn. They said it was because of the statement , "We can not be responsible for your data blah blah..I said I wish you would please re-consider. I told them that they were not 3rd party mentioned in the clause and it was for the people doing the background check (third party). I even mentioned that I would remove the statement. The HR lady who resides in another town was on the phone in the owners office. She had done a 180. She was really nice but when we all spoke (conf call) she was mean and not 100% factual. So Im wondering if I was not hired because of the age, the statement or the 25K bill? Also, I have no idea how to try to get unemployment. I feel really upset. I feel like I did nothing wrong...
I have had a lot of warehouse experience that includes picking, scanning, palletizing (basic and hydraulic), computer experience and packing of clothing at Saks 5th Avenue. I have about 2 years of on warehouse experiencing through temporary agencies and also at Proctor & Gamble through Manpower Staffing and Beacon Staffing out of Aberdeen, Maryland. I am a very good worker and get along with both co-workers and supervisors. Both my husband and I both worked at Proctor & Gamble, Sephora, and McCormick Warehouse. All of these jobs were through temporary agencies so the jobs only lasted while they had work and nothing was ever long lasting.
NOV 7 2016 I started working for a temporary service November 8 2016 I was contacted by the temp HR department that the office I started working the 2 days no longer wanted to continue my contract , im very disappointed I have no clue as of Why so I have ask HR if there were given a reason he reply " No I ask her to reach out to office an find out Why,she agreed I'm still waiting to hear back
I am working as a temp at a law firm. I spoke with my agency and told them some concerns I had. After we spoke they called the client I am working for , telling them exactly what I said. Down to the time we talked, all the emails that were exchanged, EVERYTHING... They basically ruined my name. After hearing all this the client now says she's not sure if she wants to hire me. What can I do?
I am an IT professional currently in the job market. I live in a northeast state which is a suburb of NYC. In my state, we have two big companies which regularly post 6-12 month contract positions with basically the same requirements. This positions will pop up once a month. One of the company is in the health product business and the other is in the communication business. Since I’ve been looking for employment since February, I’ve noticed a pattern which is, to say the least, very interesting:
I have a question for everyone. I have had a few temporary job assignments over the past year. Should I add them to my resume; or not? I feel like I shouldn't because employers will wonder why. I have a part time job in the evenings; maybe I should just use them as a reference. I want to work two jobs; a full time job in the morning while keeping the part time job in the evening. Just tired of all the politics when dealing with temporary job services. I live in a small town in Ohio, where all of the jobs are connected with one temporary service or another. There are 6 of them I can think of off the top of my head. Thank you for your input.
I was working for a temp service. For a distribution center. For almost 6 months. They never complained about or anything. Until one day a manager came up to me and let me know what I did wrong about stacking product wrong. OK the next day my temp service call me and tells me I was let go. I asked what the problem was she just said they sent her an email stating that it just wasn't working out. So after 6 months it didn't work out really. I think they just didn't want to hire me permanently.
I am looking for a new job. This after a terrible experience with a supervisor and manager at my last position.
My problem is that every job I am interested has been listed by temp agency. This has become a very frustrating problem. Previously, I have been working for some temp agencies for this reason. How can you find a decent job that is not temporary but actually hiring?
