"Interview Tip"

Be aware of Non Verbal Communication during your interview! For exampl

Resting your hands on your face

Touching your face, such as rubbing your chin or tapping your mouth, is often a subconscious gesture that signals anxiety, discomfort, or thinking. It can also be interpreted as an attempt to hide something. What you can do: Place your hands calmly on the table or in your lap. If you feel the urge to touch your face, take a deep breath and refocus your attention on the interview. #AWU #disability #interviewtips

"Interview Tips"

What Are Situational Interview Questions? Situational interview questions are designed to test how you would handle a specific task or real-life situation relevant to the job you’re applying for. For example, you might be asked how you would deal with a complicated customer service issue or what you would do if you were given a last-minute project to complete.

These interview questions can be intimidating, but it’s important to remember that they allow you to stand out from the competition in a personalized and relevant way.

The interviewer is looking to understand your thought process and assess your ability to apply your education and experience in real-world ways. When you share stories that resonate with the hiring manager, you’ll stick in their memory far better than you can through your resume alone. #AWU #disability #interviewtips

"Interview Tip"

Three Lies to Avoid in Job Interviews

• According to veteran tech recruiter, job seekers should avoid lying about their background check information, including education and employment history, as these are easily verifiable.

• Falsely claiming other job offers or counteroffers is also risky, as professionals often network and employers may discover the deception.

• Fabricating references and using fake email addresses is easily detectable by companies that track IP addresses.

• While some embellishment is common in job searches, these three areas carry a high risk of getting caught and harming job prospects.

• This recruiter emphasizes that while navigating the job market requires strategy, honesty in these specific areas is crucial to avoid negative consequences.

"Interview Tip"

“I think my resume speaks for itself.”

You should never tell an interviewer this. Your resume alone isn’t enough to tell your full story during an interview.

The purpose of doing an interview is for additional discovery to identify the best hire for the role. Your resume is like a book outline, highlighting only important points.

Your job during the interview is to expand on those highlighted points, convincing the interviewer that you are the best qualified person for the position. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips

"Interview Tip"

• To effectively showcase strengths, you may want to have on the tip of your tongue the points that illustrate your personal achievements, identifying recurring strengths, and structuring responses around problem-solution narratives emphasizing results.

• Also create a 'number of stories' to draw upon during interviews that highlight your skills and experiences effectively. #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips

"Post Interview Tip "

Don’t ruin a great interview with a bad follow-up. In the last stages of the interview process, make sure you send a thank you email to all involved, and don’t:

Ramble in your follow-up. A polite, concise follow-up is great. Don't ramble on about why you deserve the job. That is a big mistake. Keep your follow-ups professional and to the point.‍ #AWU #disability #jobs #interviewtips
