With in the four walls of the prison is a city. As a maintenance foreman, I hired offenders who I trained to do many tasks. Being honest, and making no promises goes a long way in the prison system. During my employment, I never had a problem with any offender, or staff person. Every day was different, and every day was a challenge.

Helping people trying to get back on their feet and provide for their families

It’s a good experience for me cause I learned about work in the campus area like building highways and streets and improving the streets in Puerto Rico.

It was local, working for my people and the environment

Learning experience and always something new. Cross training was interesting.

I really like getting paid weekly. I met a lot of great people. I learned a lot about the area that I live in.
