Are you a Jobcaser of the Week ($100 award)? If not, maybe next week?

It can pay to help people in the Jobcase Community! Five Jobcasers are selected as the Jobcasers of the Week, and they are awarded $100 for:

  • Providing helpful answers to questions by fellow Jobcasers
  • Having a fully filled out profile, including a profile picture

Here are the Jobcasers of the Week!

Marie Deltor - Connect with Marie Deltor

Marie replied to a question about what it takes to become an Administrative Assistant.

  • “The Administrative Assistant should be capable of running an office to accommodate the Executive and be comfortable acting on her or his behalf in situations that don’t require a unique license or expertise or be able to set the stage to accommodate an equal replacement whenever the Executive is unavailable.”

Michael Fahey - Connect with Michael Fahey

Michael replied to a question about the biggest challenge of a photographer job.

  • “As soon as you say “job” that means you are a professional. In order to be a pro, it is assumed that you have been an amateur long enough to offer clients images they cannot acquire from any amateur. You must learn to make a business from your work and that is harder than the photography part. Getting known, advertising for more work and if you do everything perfectly your might have a slim chance of making a living at it. Being likable will make people want to work with you again.”

Michael Roberts - Connect with Michael Roberts

Michael replied to a question How can I show interviewers I'm ready for a painter job?

  • “My advice, is first, to show up to your interview in painters whites. Secondly, have brushes, hand tools, rollers, and any other necessities for a painter ready to go. Buy good brushes. Cheap brushes will not last. My go-to brushes are Purdy brushes sold at Sherwin Williams. They will last for years if you take care of them. Also, make sure you have a good 5-in-1 tool. Good luck on your journey.”

Aaron Hall - Connect with Aaron Hall

Aaron replied to a question about how did you stay positive and motivated while working at CarMax?

  • “You have to look at what motivates you. Do a values assessment on yourself. Sometimes the job is what you make it. If money is what drives you as an example… not the ins and outs of your bonus structure, maybe there is a skill or course that may take little to no time that the company pays an employee extra for. Also, each leader is different and so often we as employees are afraid to have constructive conversations about our future and what we need from them to be successful. Don’t be afraid to have those conversations.”

Katherine Fairchild - Connect with Katherine Fairchild

Katherine replied with a question about What do you think is the BEST way to calm my nerves before an interview at UPS?

  • “Make sure you're prepared for a physically demanding environment, in changing climate 5 days a week minus holidays, you'll also be expected to lift up to 70+pds throughout your shift. If you're a team player, dependable, and reliable who enjoys getting paid to work out you'll fit in just fine. Plus the opportunity to advance starts from within before we hire outside of UPS staff. st life. Best of luck with your interview and I hope you join team brown.”

Congratulations to this week’s Jobcasers of the Week!

Amazon schedule

I recently applied at Amazon, you choose a schedule, I went to interview, passed the drug test background check, but my email said that the shift I chose was full?? I don't understand, why do they have it as part of the application process if they aren't going to hold it for you? I understand that their jobs fill up quickly, but don't offer it if you're not going to follow through!! Has this happened to anyone else? 🤔

When the University Posts a GHOST position and Prof tries to clean up the Fake mess HA! Think they will follow back up with me?

Hello—Oh dear: I suspect that whoever submitted that internship opportunity failed to notice that very old staff information was included. Two of the three people listed no longer are at the University. I’m very sorry to learn all this and want to help you. Send me the name of the department under which the internship was listed along with the link on our website to its description. I’ll do some detective work for you.
