We've all heard stories about elderly or disabled individuals who need help and have no one to help them. Can you imagine what it would be like to be an older individual and need just the simplest things in life but not be able to get those needs met on your own? How can we help folks like that in our own communities? Could this be the perfect job for you?

Have you ever heard of an organization known as Papa?

Well, I recently discovered this amazing opportunity and I really wanted to share it. Part of the reason this organization really interests me is because many years ago I worked as a senior protective aid and some of the circumstances the elderly population were subjected to were just heartbreaking. Many of them lived alone and had no family or close friends to visit with or to help them with simple daily tasks. They were lonely and felt forgotten.

One of my last clients was an 82-year-old blind man who's wife of 52 years had recently passed away. He had a nurse that would come into his home twice a week but there were many things that he could have been doing had he just had someone there for him. This man had lived with his wife in the same house for 52 years! Being blind, he wasn't able to clean, do his laundry, shop for groceries or even read a book or a newspaper. I can't tell you how much my relationship with him enriched my life. From taking him on errands & appointments, cleaning his home or chatting in the garden my days were fulfilling & heartwarming. 🥹

Papa is an organization that gives people the opportunity to help others in their community. I highly encourage you to follow the link below, read about this organization and see if there is a local branch in your state and city. They highly vet the people who work with them to ensure the safety and security of the clients.

There are currently 31 States who have Papa organizations with hundreds of clients who need a safe and trusted relationship with someone like you!

I loved my job because they treat me so good I was like a family to them. They didn't want me to leave but i got layoff because the contract finished. I used to work at the Verizon building as a cleaner and then supervisor checking the other workers doing their job. I really missed them. they were so good to me and i love that. Now I'm looking for a part time job near allentown because I live in allentown

So I have been an employee at the company I work for through a staffing agency for almost 6 months now and 3 months ago my supervisor approached me and offered me a position as the warehouse/production manager of the entire bakery department of the company. They moved me out to the bakery that day and told me I was hired and as soon as they could they would get me put on their payroll and out of the staffing agency. They told me I would have a $5 pay increase and full benefits. This was all promised to me in the middle of September and now it’s January and I’m still through the staffing agency. I have turned down several permanent job positions with other companies that would have paid me almost as much as what I was promised by the company I currently work for. Last week Thursday I approached the same manager that told me I was hired and asked her what the status was on me getting hired on like she originally offered and was told that the guy who was the warehouse/ production manager before me, and has been in jail for the last 6months, is coming back and basically getting his job back. I am so upset over this and don’t know what to do. I have called most of the companies who offered me positions with their company just to be told they filled the positions they had offered,

I experienced 2 reorg during my career. The first one I was devastated because I did not realize job searching had changed. It was no longer a face to face or a call to set up an interview.
I had even tried going to college because the environment of pressing everyone to go back to school for a ba. It was madness for people over 50+ to go back to school only for credentials to be accepted back into the job market. I started joining social medias and attending workshops. What I learned was that I had to brand myself and show " humbliness" as to why I would be a value. I say this because a lot of people 50 and over should not feel they have to redefine themselves by going to school and being in debt to get work. The goal should be to see where your value is needed and how to attract. I did contract work a few times to fix things that needed improvements. Contract work is temp but if you are looking to get pay at your worth it may not be a bad thing to consider. The market for 50 plus still exist. You just have to learn where.

I had a new job lined up last month. I was to begin a new 1-2 year contract. Less than a week before I was to begin the entire project was shelved. I was told this exactly one year to the day that I lost my last job. I'm having a harder time each week trying to keep my chin up but it's difficult when I'm home alone 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week with no friends to talk to or fellow artists to keep creative with. I'm just blue and I don't know where I'm going. I'm not getting any younger either. I'll be 60 this year.
