I worked with some great co-workers and I loved caring for the Veterans but I hated the overall culture and the lack of internal mobility within the VA. Management was about the worst I've ever experienced in my 35 years of employment.

I had no problem and really enjoyed working for the benefit of veterans but after ten years the new admin understood I didn’t know how to treat patients and were pushing for more work and less back up. Lot of providers are leaving. If you like to work under a lot of stress and responsibilities w/o any help, then this is the place to work.

In my experience, staying with TGH isn’t worthwhile. You’re not valued and are treated as just another cog in the machine. You become a number, just another employee, and lose the sense of being appreciated as a person. You’re reduced to your role, with no voice or value beyond your job description.

Humana is known for its positive company culture and employee benefits. However, experiences can vary depending on the specific team and role. I recommend checking employee reviews on websites like Glassdoor, Indeed, or Jobcase for more insight.

Humana, doesn't treat it's field sales agents well! I know this for a fact. They actually fired the woman who was so kind and sweet along with her boss, the day I started. When I was a field agent, the supervisor would tell, our team, as far as guidance who to find prospective Medicare recipients, "it's your business, you got to figure this thing out." His boss Kevin Green was no better. When I asked him during a staff meeting if there are any type of mentoring assistance, since it was my first year in that business, he just looked at me and kept talking. Very little assistance for a health plan not well know in California.

You have to have a real desire to help people who truly need you. Compassion, understanding & patience are vital. When you get hired by an agency, they will provide all you need for your training. You have to be able to pass a background check. You have to be finger printed. Also, you must go in for a TB Test and pass. They will send you to get your certificates for First Aid, CPR, Dementia and Alzheimer’s training, as well. The classes are fairly easy. The whole process takes about 2 or 3 weeks, in total.
