Why do Taxi drivers still exist?

This past week while out visiting the French fest in my city. I had a chance to utilize Uber and request a ride! I actually drive for Uber as a part-time gig, and I love it. While out, I noticed a lot of the Taxi drivers outside their vehicles, taking smoke breaks, or taking a nap inside their car. It made me think about how the transportation industry has evolved over the past 10 year. I really wonder why taxi drivers have not transitioned over to drive for Lyft or Uber. I'm sure their income has dropped tremendously, and that business has slowed down. We have to make sure that we are staying abreast of the technology advances and changes that are happening around us. What are your thoughts, why do you think people are still choosing to drive Taxi Cabs? #Curious #Transportation #Career

Because taxi drivers don't videotape you and then put you on YouTube while you're intoxicated! Most cab drivers have to go through background checks so with Uber drivers you are more likely to get molested or dead!

Cabs are also contracted here in CT as medical transportation. They bring patients to and from appointments. I work as Dialysis Tech and many of the patients relay on this type of transportation.

I really loved working for #Lyft because...

I’m a “people person”. I literally LOVE people and I never meet a stranger. Working for Lyft allowed me to make acquaintances, provide a service for others and I was given a daily opportunity to try and make others smile with my kind actions & gestures. Working for Lyft was good because of the passengers❣️

Do not be a pizza delivery driver

I would like to ask I used to work for a company that I had to use my own vehicle for making deliveries pizza deliveries and I was not very appreciate it at all I was putting wear and tear on my car I was going to oil changes like nothing else and as gas prices began to rise and it was almost five bucks a gallon my previous employer did not care she had an ice cold heart and as long as the pizzas for being delivered she ain't care anything about her drivers I work for 2 pizza joints in the US I thought I would learn my lesson after the first pizza joint that did me really dirty I thought I would learn my lesson I should have trusted my gut I received an offer from the second Pizza Pizza job I'm not going to reveal the person that I work worked for and the company's name confidentiality so needless to say I didn't learn my lesson I thought that the offer was real it was really good and we all know we all heard that it if it's too good to be true it usually is and I've heard that saying so many times and it was it was like something out of a fairy tale they made it seem as they were the best pizza joint in the US I don't know exactly how late we were able to make that Ferry toll live stick but I was not impressed not one bad I found out right away has a lot of the drivers told me to watch out for the GM they said that she's very strict and to watch out for her daughter who works for the same joint which is right under her as her second in command and they said whatever her too cuz you can say anything about but yeah she will run and tell her mom and wish I didn't say anything to me but I still got treated filthy filthy wrong how to spell used big time and I definitely learned my lesson this time I don't want to work for anybody anymore because everybody says but they want to say just get you hired and then you find out what the company is really about once you start working for him and all of the employees start telling you to watch out for these people watch out for these people cuz they'll stab you in the back and which I found out to be true Hi how are you didn't have gas for my 06 Chevy Suburban I didn't have to ask for it because it was cost me or $250 a week to run for a pizza joint and once I got once I sold it and newer car well one night daughter that wasn't really in charge you was actually off she ran in and told the assistant manager he needed to pinch me because I didn't get the new car approved or they didn't have an expected or any other Pizza Company wanted to have it inspected and everything show me how to get on the list to say I got bench for about 2 weeks until I called and I made a fuss was the higher-ups the people that were higher than the p.m. I made a fuss about about what they did and everything and phone is saying after about two weeks I am going to leave the higher-ups higher than GM approved the the car but I still was screwed out of two weeks of wages I never really saw any of that money in this economy you can't afford gas maintenance for your vehicle and what is gas going up to five bucks a gallon used car start trimming the fat somewhere and got to start cutting hair cutting there and believe me I've crammed as much fat as I can I mean I've cut a lot of stuff out of my life just to be able to survive that pizza delivery job and I just can't it wasn't worth it anymore so once I couldn't afford it anymore I stopped doing it and now I work for this grocery train this grocery chain wish honestly page me at heck of a lot better and I do use my own vehicle for these guys but this grocery chain pays me good money for free using my own vehicle I made almost $300 almost $100 in one day doing and I didn't only made about 8 about medium for me 356 deliveries and I've made a hundred bucks in one day so yeah it's definitely worth it was I was making like four times the amount of money in one day that I was as a pizza delivery driver I'm happy now I mean I could and the thing is with this job that I currently have what the grocery chain is pretty much I'm My Own Boss whenever I want to go make deliveries and make money for myself I set my own hours if I want admit if I want to go on for an hour and makes make a little bit of money I can am I going right so when I set my own hours when I want to clock out I clock out if I want to go make $60 go put in 3 or 4 hours and I'm done for the day and see him that's what I like about being Your Own Boss it's just a lot better when you're on when you are your own boss once again I just want to let everybody know on jobcase do not be a pizza delivery driver I do not recommend it unless you were rich and you could afford like $2,000 a month just in gas and car maintenance I'm just putting it putting it out there I would like to have some feedback on this to see you at is there anybody else out there that feels the same way thank you again really appreciate you guys sincerely

We were relocated out here from Cali and then let go less than 2 months after we got here

Show my lady and I were transferred out here from California to Odessa Texas to be the GMs at the Midland and Odessa Wienerschnitzels. And so we uproot the family pack everything we have to move out here and make a life, we get out here but our boss doesn't show up nor does any of his Representatives to help with the transition and let the previous GMS know what's going on. We take over the stores all the equipment is broken. Both stores needed at least $13,000 worth of equipment and repairs just to get them up to standard. So we go through we straighten everything up try to get people trained properly and inform the boss of all the equipment and other issues that are needed to be handled in order to get the stores up to par. Less than 2 months later without saying anything to us he decides he's going to sell both stores and the new owners come in with final checks for us and tell us both that we are no longer needed. So now we're both looking for work driving for Uber trying to make rent and be able to take care of our 8-year-old boy and our 2-year-old granddaughter. Still haven't heard anything from our old boss he refuses to answer any of our calls or messages or emails so I'm just flabbergasted by the whole situation
