This past week while out visiting the French fest in my city. I had a chance to utilize Uber and request a ride! I actually drive for Uber as a part-time gig, and I love it. While out, I noticed a lot of the Taxi drivers outside their vehicles, taking smoke breaks, or taking a nap inside their car. It made me think about how the transportation industry has evolved over the past 10 year. I really wonder why taxi drivers have not transitioned over to drive for Lyft or Uber. I'm sure their income has dropped tremendously, and that business has slowed down. We have to make sure that we are staying abreast of the technology advances and changes that are happening around us. What are your thoughts, why do you think people are still choosing to drive Taxi Cabs? #Curious #Transportation #Career

I perfer to take cabs. If you get into an accident while riding a cab, I think you are covered. In other words, when a vehicle accident involving a taxi takes place, the operating company is liable for the damages suffered by both the driver and passengers. However with Uber it depends on what insurance a driver has. If he/she doesn't have comprehensive, then you have to pay out of your own pocket. Uber says they are just an app and not an operating company so you can't hold them responsible. However getting a taxi is getting harder and harder so sometimes you have no choice but to take an Uber.

Cab prices dropped a lot. It was more make sense to take a cab over uber last year. Uber got very expensive after the pandemic. I saw that uber got sued for overcharged and not paying enough to drivers.

There are still taxi drivers because there is still room for both of them to operate! I don't use either of them, but I don't knock those that do! Taxis are some what cheaper than Uber and Lyft! so that is why they still exist! As long as there are room for all of them without one trying to drive the other out of business, I have no problem with that! That is how the Free Enterprise way works!

Afternoon Mi'Lady J. Winters first & foremost hoping all the loved ones & you are in the best of spirits & Health . Well the answer to that question of "WHY".. being i'm from "Manhattan NYC" to this extremely "poorly under developed Technological state..i.e. public transportation wise, electrical grid wise (in which that to a human body would be a severe brain aneurism or deadly heart attack). In other words IF a city can't move its population i.e. PEOPLE who must get to work or any other venue in supporting & visiting shoppers to restaurants, your Cow boy games (oh & you DO know they suck right.. lmbo just kidding wanted to feel if that RIGHT EYE BROW raised a lil :) well the reason why the "Lyft & Uber" is so desperately required is because as a "Concrete Jungle Runner" the state is poorly chiseled out (More accessible to the adjourning city its from an abundantly road/highway mapped out all WRONG) & for those who made that deadly mistake embarking here with out personal transportation like i did - your next relative has to be adopted as "UBER or LFTY" ..get this i even got the job working for lyft ..NOW get this having trouble renting one of their vehicles. So my distant light as i see it, Texas is truly living on a " CRITICAL LIFE SUPPORT system" for those who don't have reliable transportation, i have jobs coming out of the WHA'ZOO looking for workers & I qualify for more than half - but when they're in "Haslet, Dallas, Green Acres & Ham..i know (no such place BUT the sentiment is there, these great jobs are starving for good workers & i can't reach them. So Mi'lady there's the answer to your question my Distant'Light.. this industry HAS to bloom & it will : Hugz to the loved ones & you Mi'lady stay strong & masked up :*

The only reason why taxi’s still exist, is because during the pandemic a lot of Uber drivers stopped driving do to safety concerns, which in turn created longer wait times and less car availability for riders. This was a perfect time for taxi’s to come back, so they did. Which is the reason why taxi’s still exist.

I think some are still set in the old ways for sure, but others may not have a choice. It can be difficult to make the switch if you don't own your own car, and Uber notoriously has difficulties with the way they treat their drivers. I'm not saying that Cab Company owners necessarily treat their drivers any better, but there are a lot of circumstances for why the system on both sides, cabs and Ubers, might not be working very well for most involved. Especially the drivers themselves.

I've had the same cabbie for 15 years, which grew a friendship. I don't call anyone else. She's been a cab driver forever and has a repeat client base.

Many people do not trust Uber or lift and I don`t blame them . Any rapist or mass murderer can get around these agencies so called background checks let the record speak for itself .
