🐧❄️Air Conditioning: A Secret Benefit to Retail!? 🧊🍦

Gotta love the industrial central air conditioning of most retail buildings! Not unlike seeking refuge in the cinema, sometimes having to clock-in can be literally refreshing on these hot summer days! (Pro-Tip: department stores tend to be one of the coolest buildings in the city. 🌇 )

On the other hand, being trapped at work without that sweet, sweet AC can be absolute torture! 👿 Standing at the register, getting grumpy, interfacing with sweaty customers who are just as grumpy can be a huge challenge. Finally get home, sometimes you just melt into the couch and take a heat nap.

Here are a few tips to stay cool on the job:

  1. Stay hydrated! This rule should be followed at all time during all seasons, but it’s especially true during the hot months. Hydration can keep the body regulated and the mind focused. Talking to and assisting customers can be taxing on the body, and a dry mouth or sluggish feeling can be incredibly uncomfortable.

  2. Dress comfortably. This rule is contingent on how much sartorial freedom your job allows, but generally, it’s important to wear clothes that breathe, and shoes that are supportive, but not restrictive.

  3. Keep a cool attitude. Some of the body’s heat regulation can be affected by mental states. By remaining calm and being patient, your body can regulate its temperature by avoiding cortisol spikes and other stress responses.

  4. Don’t be afraid to take a break—if you can! Taking a break can be the little reset that your body needs to keep going and stay cool.

So, fellow Jobcasers, have your employers been cool about beating the heat?

When interviewing at Teleperformance, be prepared to answer questions about your customer service experience, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, problem-solving skills, and how you handle stressful situations. Also, be ready to discuss your availability, communication skills, and your understanding of the company's services. For sample interview questions and tips, check out resources on Jobcase, Indeed, Glassdoor, and Teleperformance's website. Good luck!
