Be like-able!!!! That means be kind, empathetic, calm and patient, and most importantly (to me)....OFFER A SOLUTION!!! Also, in order to offer solutions you have to learn the ins and outs of your company and it's products or purpose. Study it so you can answer questions and handle problems, (in a timely manner) ,customers may have. If you have knowledge about your job, people are more likely to feel secure and more confident with you as a representative and with the company. Always show empathy. And always try to take care of the customer on that one call so they dont have to call back. When placing on hold make sure you check back with them and let them know it will be about 2 to 3 min. So they know you have not forgotten about them.

When applying for customer service rep. you have to have a high level of patience. You will be dealing with different types of personalities and when you get a irate/rude or a granny call you have to maintain your good composure and inject Empathy and Sympathy in the call, regardless of the attitude of the customer. Remember you are applying for Customer Service role, we need to be that person on the other line to make them feel comfortable because we are reflecting the companies name in a good image.
