With your bachelor's in IT and A+ certification, you have a solid foundation for a help desk job. Consider pursuing additional certifications like Network+, Security+, or ITIL to enhance your qualifications further. Also, gaining practical experience through internships or entry-level IT positions can be valuable. Don't forget to regularly check Jobcase, along with other job search providers, for help desk job opportunities in your area. Good luck!

You have the certification for HelpDesk, and with a Bachelor's, that helps tremendously. The big thing with HelpDesk is customer service skills. Helpdesk used to be lacking in this department....a lot. It's gotten better, but IT tech forgets that end-users think we are Harry Porter or Neo and can just conjure the weird request out of the air at the drop of a dime. You have to be able to explain to them in terms they can understand what's doable and what's not. And to be honest, some customer service reps can't do that, and that's their main job. Patience and a keen ear are what's needed along with knowledge. Good luck in your search. 🍀

Warehouse Worker at Labor Max Staffing Ramsey And Sons

Getting a call center agent job is generally not very hard compared to many other roles, though it can depend on a few key factors. Location plays a part, as some areas have a constant need for call center workers due to high turnover, while others may be more competitive. Many call centers do not require previous experience and often provide paid training, although having a background in customer service, sales, or strong communication skills can definitely give an applicant an advantage. Essential skills for the role include good communication, active listening, basic computer abilities, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. The type of call center also matters; inbound support positions, where agents help customers who reach out, are usually easier to secure, while outbound sales roles, which involve cold calling, might require a stronger sales personality. Bilingual agents are often in higher demand and can command better pay. Some companies require background checks, while others are more lenient in their hiring process. Overall, with a bit of preparation—such as practicing common interview questions and brushing up on typing and computer skills—getting hired as a call center agent is very achievable. Success in the role usually comes down to managing stress well and following scripts effectively.
