A strong receptionist resume should highlight a combination of technical proficiency and interpersonal finesse. Employers look for candidates who can manage multi-line phone systems, schedule appointments efficiently, and handle email correspondence with professionalism. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and visitor management software is often essential. Equally important are soft skills like clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in fast-paced environments. Receptionists serve as the face of an organization, so showcasing customer service excellence, discretion, and adaptability can set you apart. Tailoring your resume to reflect these strengths—along with any quantifiable achievements—will help you make a confident and memorable impression.

I have discovered that the more office software programs you know help so much. Not to mention but I've been asked if I can address an envelope, run the copier, physical fax as well as eFax. Basic email protocols. List any software programs you know outside office. For me as a medical receptionist it's important to demonstrate that I can juggle 3-5 , software programs while scheduling an appointment or answering the phone. Hope that helps in some way.
