Do looks matter when getting hired?
Presentation is everything when getting hired to looking your best. Taking care of yourself daily, being on top of your game, and updating your resume to match the job position is the key. Personality, business etiquette and follow through at the end of your interview with a “Thank You” phone call/card or email. If you’ve done your homework for a successful approach to your dream job, then all that is left is hope for the best. Some businesses have an ideal candidate that they prefer for their corporate, it’s ok if you didn’t look the part. There’s another company waiting to meet you. Best of luck!

FYI- I was rejected multiple times for work because of the way I look and I was told I do not look the part when I asked the hiring agent. I’ve moved on and didn’t take it personally it’s all business.
I have a Master's Degree in Exercise Science, CPA, and Business owner. I am of mixed ethnicity and wear glasses when I read. This post is to motivate and encourage.☮️✌️

Absolutely, everything matters, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, it's best to make it count!

Depends on who is doing the hiring. A man....woman without glasses. A woman....the woman with glasses!

It would be discrimination to suggest either of them would get the job based on looks alone. If the hirer of any company goes by this method of finding a proper candidate for a job than I’d rather not apply and it would be their loss. I’m cute but naive!

Both. Either one may have the knowledge and experience for the position. Either one can dress the part.

It depends on the job. If it's a front desk job, the woman on the left will get the job. That company's belief is that "We can't have a fat or less-attractive woman at the front desk. Customers want to see a pretty skinny woman, and they don't care if she's dumber than a box of rocks." If it's a back-office job, the fat or less-attractive woman will get the job. I've been in the workplace for 41 years and this has been my observations over the years.

depends on the job

Looks like you covered all the bases. Professional!

I sometimes I think I was rejected because of my looks and my age. I dressed the part, but I have dread locs. My last job, I was overly dressed for the interview, because everyone was dressed down. However, I was not discriminated due to my looks or age. Feels so good to go to work and not worry about how I look.

Discrimination based on looks is illegal unless one can prove that it's an inherent part of the job like casting a model for certain looks.
Second one.
