Maintenance mechanic

Well you said it all. Overqualified to them means you will be too expensive and thays usually the bottom line in corporate. Who have never even worked in the field. In my position I am so far ahead of the maintenance skill level coming in. When applying I just figure out what Im willing to except in pay. The key is getting in the door. If you really know your stuff you will and dont go into it with a attitude because this younger generation will rebel against you because they are intimidated of you. So take it easy we dont have to prove ourselves anymore instead fall into the role of mentor. You will draw them in like fly. The management will see their value in you and there you are. I prefer that now to the fast pace extremely demanding, higher paying positions Im qualified to have. Those are for the young folks. Enjoy the fact that you dont have to be everything to all people any more to stay on top.

Ageism is rampert in the jpb market,. GenX has about a 35% chance of getting a job only because they come with more skills and experiences than the recruiter or hiring manager ,they feel that they are coming for their job and will not hire. Says something your experience exceeds that of the position-what BS.

Age should not deter you from pursuing a job you love. Highlight your skills and experiences relevant to the job, showcase your enthusiasm and willingness to learn, and demonstrate how your maturity and experience are assets. Utilize platforms like Jobcase and other job search providers to find companies that embrace diversity. Stay confident and keep applying until you find the right fit. Good luck!
