What are my rights?
My employer called for a meeting with me and invited my union rep. She gave me no details as to what this meeting is about. I’m scared that i’m going to be fired. Any advice or information about my rights would be greatly appreciated. #advice #termination #management #jobsearch #interview #termination

I understand why this must be so stressful @Kathryn Fitzgerald! I saw some of your follow up comments and it seems like it was a series of small mistakes anyone could have made that led to this. It also seems like a lot of fuss and fear from your Boss over some personal friction, honestly! I hope things have started to smooth over at work again now. Would you give us an update with another post? Thanks for sharing your story and reaching out the Community! ❤️

Bottom line is people don't have many "rights" anymore, if they don't like you they will get rid of you, or even destroy you depending on the circumstances, good luck, Cheers, Roger 😊

It is most definitely bad news. Prepare yourself for it so your reactions will be decent. Reprimand or firing are the only reasons union reps come in anymore.

Although she did not the union representative should find out and get back to to you. You have a right to prepare if needed. If unable to prepare postpone the meeting and prepare for the next meeting if needed. Good Luck.

I’m interested.

Let your union rep show you the way. That's what they do. You're very lucky to be a union member.

Well, if you didn't do anything wrong, you have nothing to be afraid of. They might be wanting to speak with you about another employee or an opportunity. Be positive! If you think you might have done something wrong, think about any recent forms you have filled out or conversations you have had with your manager. Union workers cannot be fired for no reason or without being written up.

What was the topic of conversation and was this verbal warning? If you've never been written up you should be in good standing.
Have you ever been written up? Any formal discipline?
If you are a union member they cannot just fire you. Check your union paperwork and find out what actions or in-actions can result in immediate dismissal.
