My advice to people interested in working at #VISTA ...

Serving as a VISTA was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. The training, experience, and opportunities that it provided were immeasurable. I would urge anyone to "step up to the plate" and try it. It is without a doubt the best thing you can do for yourself while helping others. On top of all the perks, I got to meet and share in discussions with some wonderful former volunteers and VISTAs like Jay Rockefella and Ted Koppel. . #VISTAVICTORY #ServicetoAmerica #VolunteerismthatoverpaysVISTA #Justdoit #WordsofAdvice #VISTAwisdom #interview

One thing I would have loved to have at #Vista unified school district was

Having more hours to spend time with the students to help them with their assignments from their regular classes. More time to prep fun activities with the kids because once they join they attend our ASES Program, they don’t want to go home. They love the attention & care that we show them each & everyday. They love the support that we give them while they attend the ASES Program. But other than that everything is “Awesome” I love my work for both schools that I work for up until now.

I was recruiting and training senior citizens to listen to first or second graders read, and ask specific questions (rather than jumping in and supplying the word). We had pre and post tests, so they could see specific improvements along with the general blossoming of their student. I absolutely loved this job. We had weekly support meetings to provide help with problems that may have arisen, and share their successes.
