Minimum Wage Hike, Does It Matter to You?
According to an article in the WSJ, more than half of the states are set to raise their minimum wages. However, the effect of this may be subdued because most low wage workers are making more than minimum wage. Most employers in the hospitality and restaurant industries had to increase the pay for their workers above minimum wage to keep them from quitting during the pandemic.

I was laid off in 4/2020 due to C-19. I have been applying on almost every employment site with no luck. I have a lot of experience in the commercial and industrial HVAC industry, traveled the world as factory technical representative, and operated mechanical contracting business in a 50/50 partnership. Unfortunately, I cannot run service any longer due to physical restrictions, but my knowledge and work ethic(leadership skills) are my greatest assets. Employers are commenting on how impressive my resume is but they chose another candidate. This is the most common reply from employers. Your so true! People don't understand that we have been young once also, now we have moved to the OLD and they think we can be forgotten. Not me! I have worked all my live and still work, everyday. But I make sure my family is ok, all of them. If I can help I do so. Wether it be babysitting, making meals, cleaning,laundry,mowing the grass, taking care of the sick, picking up kids from school and to, delivering forgotten lunch, Doctors appointments, pets, sewing clothes to make them new again, getting food from the garden and sharing with all. Delivering basket of goodies all the way down to homemade cookies and bars , jams and pies. Trading clothes to small for bigger and to big for smaller. I take care of 7 houses not including my own , so 8. I do all that is listed and still have love and patience to share and attend to who ever needs it. Kids are kids let them be kids and play in the dirt and use the imaginations. Adults, get those little hands working for you and those little legs running for what you need. All of this is easy if you put a plan together. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure this out. But STOP and I mean STOP using kids as a crutch or excuse. Don't put them out in front of the bullets! That is the adults job and not there's. Now you can figure out who this is and say all of your nasty comments to me! Not in front of the kids. This world is ours for now, they will have to take care of it sooner than later, unless we all screw it up so much that there is nothing left to take care of. So figure it out! Stand up and start making your family strong and show them how to be strong and not how to beg or wait for someone else to give you a hand out. YEP, IT"S ME, the one who has an opinion on everything. But I stand on my own and I help out all that I can and then some. What do you do?

There are many employees, at vary levels, who had to take pay cuts because of the ongoing pandemic.
A question I have received several times has been whether their future salaries will be impacted (lowered) because of this.
The answer is no.
The reason is simple: Your current or past salary is private information and does not need to, and should not, be shared with anyone at a prospective company, including external recruiters.
When stating your desired salary, do the research for the market level and provide a range to get the conversation started.
All that matters is matching up your desired base salary with what the company is willing to pay. If those numbers are far apart, the negotiation process will begin.

The biggest mistake I made while working at esm was showing up the next day. Worst place I've ever worked and I work for a lot of terrible companies. Back in Kansas the right to work state. I live in Washington now we get a 15 minute break every 2 hours with pay. The minimum wage is $16 here in Seattle. You won't make that a TSM and you have to work 6 hours without a break then you get your 30 minute lunch without pay what a terrible place esm metals

Toys R Us just won a two million-dollar lawsuit for severance pay I work there for 12 and 1/2 years I was four months away from 13 years and I only got $934 that was enough to help pay one rent payment and I'm still struggling to pay rent day today month to month yes I'm trying to find a full-time job but right now I work for a company a Merchandising company and it's still not enough I honestly think working for Toys R Us for 12 and a half years I should be getting more than $934 am I not right in my thinking
And because of that is on Social Security get hurt for our little 1.2 % cost of living increase is gone before we see it , Medicare raised , RX Ins. Raised there went what little we got . Then everything else raised because wages raise . Rich get richer , working people and retired go behind .
