Just asking for a chance

  • I am a hard worker/quick learner and dedicated.
  • The hardest part of my job search is because I'm a convict felon. I almost feel decriminated against because of it.

Hidden Discrimination

I have so much to say about what I have personnaly experienced as well as what I've seen around me. I have never had such a hard time getting interviews and or having successful interviews then getting turned down. I am amazed at how unprofessional and how biased from little establishments to large coroporations and facilities are treating people. How is it that one person can have multiple degrees, Certifications, clean driving record, clean backround & criminal record., clean employment records., and continueously get turned away? I will tell you how & here are my theories & I want your thoughts :

-It appears to me that once you get a divorce and your credit takes a flight risk into the Ocean, your life is over?

When you apply for ANY JOB you have to sign an FCRA -(Fair Credit Reporting Act) If they see you have any issues they turn you away. You can not have a certain amount in debt or school loans still outstanding then forget it & they don't even ask for an expaination!
The other thing is : AGE - They do not come right out and tell you but MANY TIMES it is the Only REASON that COULD POSSIBLY BE FOR NOT GETTING EMPLOYMENT. Why hire someone in their 30's or 40's when someone in their 20's can be hired for cheaper!? REFERENCES - They always ask & make a BIG DEAL ABOUT THEM & NEVER CALL THEM! Let alone call your past employment! I speak from experience - I have been in Law Enforcement/ Security/ Medical Field since 2009 & was A Teacher before that from 2003-2009 - I have State Police Refereneces., Medical Professional References, Etc. So......What is the point here ? Then WHO THE HELL CAN SURVIVE OFF OF $13 an Hr.? THESE REASONS are just a TIP of the Iceburg people why our country is falling Short...... PEOPLE JUST DO NOT MATTER ANYMORE OR THEIR ENVIRONMENT, STATE OF EMOTIONAL & PHYSICAL HEALTH IS ALL AFFECTED & NO ONE CARES UNTIL IT AFFECTS THEM.......Very Sad

Worthy but not worthy

I'm so disappointed, and also tired. Every day I send more than 20 CV to all job companies, got rejected and being tricked.. no offers at all. . I got skills , and also a hard working person .. am I not worthy ?? Lacks of experience or is it because I'm a Filipino.?

Hostile work place

I worked at a dunkin donuts for 3 yrs, on 2nd shift, after a year I told the manager I need to work 1st shift so I can be home for my kids, so he said let me find sum1 to work 2nd shift then I'll move u to 1st. 2 years later after bugging everyday, I finally get 2 first shift, just to get dirty looks from all employees, ignored, and every1 spoke aerobic but me, the only American there, when I told them I don't feel comfortable with it, can we all just speak English, nobody could do it, felt so uncomfortable, manager never done anything about it, til his wife got in my face and started arguing with me, when I tried to talk to her about the position I was doing, and she said u wanna be here u gotta listen to me and do wat I say, her husband the manager said nothing about it, and I walked out. He never spoke 2 me again after working for him for 3 yrs. I feel they can't get away with this. Is there anything I can do about this? I always been a hard worker to be treated like this

Companies who cater to Mom's cater to success!

I was disheartened to read about pregnancy discrimination in this NYT article. Not only is ‘pregnancy discrimination’ morally repugnant, it is also quite financially stupid. Unequivocally, @jobcase, Inc. owes much of our great success to the awesome working-Moms who move us forward every day. If u want your company to succeed- make it an attractive place to work for moms - and of course especially for new Moms when they are navigating the joys and challenges around pregnancy. Have any of you experienced pregnancy discrimination ? How did you react? How do you suggest others to react? #pregnancy #discrimination #culture #mom # DoWhatsRight #success

Discrimination?

Is it a form of discrimination when you have a pre planned non-refundable family vacation for 6 week days and cause of that Companies are turning you down for employment of any type? It has happened to me twice now.

Best place to become female mechanic?

Not sure how to become a mechanic. What types of courses do I need to take to get a job at any place they fix cars? Also, if I want to work at a dealership, should I work at dealership while I am in college or keep my job at walmart? [I'm not sure if I would be good in sales].

Job Hunting and No Luck Yet!!!

I graduated back in December 2017, with my 3rd degree in 2-1/2 years. My major was Automotive Body & Paint, Minor in Automotive Mechanics. Why is it so hard for a woman to get work in a body shop, but not in a mechanical shop?

I would honestly truly enjoy working in a body shop, and took Mechanics for the ability to have another set of skills to not only build on, but to have something else to fall back on if needed. I didn't intend to give up my dreams of body shop work because that's what I enjoy most.

Anyone out there willing to be a leader in the industry and take on a woman full time in a body shop? I'm easily trained for new skills and can work alone; and I'm also a self starter.
