My previous employer requested them. You had to share your accomplishments for the week and any customer interactions. We held 1:1 with managers on a biweekly basis. Micromanaging!

When I was working in the legal field, I had to submit reports for all of my billable time for everything I did during my day. I had to bill a minimum of 7.2 hours per day, and give detailed descriptions of what I did down to the tenth of an hour. I didn't mind it, because it gave me accountability, and goals.
