Interview prep: What are your hobbies?
When a hiring manager asks you this question they're not just breaking the ice. Although this may seem like a softball question, a hiring manager can tell a lot about you by the way you answer this.
The types of activities you gravitate toward in your off time can say a lot about how you work best. For example: If your hobbies are all team-based, a hiring manager might determine you work best in a team environment. If your hobbies are all solitary, they might assume you would be happiest when working alone.
Now imagine you've just been asked this question in an interview. What are your hobbies? What insight do you think a hiring manager would take from your answer?

I was just asked that same question this week and what I do in my personal life and what was the last movie I saw. I just told the truth. I'm meeting the team again next week for lunch to showcase if I fit. So I guess I'll keep the conversation light, no politics, no religion, and ask them about themselves and let them do the talking.
