@Robert Clay Companies normally want 6 months forklift experience. When I first started warehousing I just jumped on a forklift on my lunch breaks to practice. Once I learned how to operate a forklift I just asked the shipping supervisor if I could be a forklift operator and he said yes. Companies certify in-house but you can take a forklift training course for under $100.
