A bill introduced in the California legislature is looking to ban most pre employment tests for marijuana. There are some exceptions to being able to drug test employees for marijuana. The thinking is that marijuana is legal in CA and therefore, why punish employees for partaking in something that is legal.

Do you think there should be more bans to prevent drug testing for marijuana for employment?

Marijuana significantly impairs judgment, motor coordination, and reaction time. There are many positions that require good judgment, good coordination, and/or good reaction time. Therefore making an across the board decission is not practical. I realize that Marijuana is used successfully in pain management, but the safety of all workers should be considered when making such decisions. So, I think drug tests are practical and not too much to ask of anyone. That being said, a positive drug test should not be the only determinate of rejecting an applicant.

To anyone saying they don't agree with this... your reasoning is RIDICULOUS. Of course they shouldn't test for marijuana in states where it's legal. Why should employers have the right to tell an employee what they can and cannot do outside of work when the activity is legal? Most people do not show up to work baked. Or drunk. If I wanna go home and relax with some weed than it is my right to do so. The affect does not last long anyway. No work place should be able to control your life outside of the work environment. Most of the so called "facts" about weed are wildly misleading and just straight up lies. It's been villified for far too long and it's time for it to stop.

NO. I don’t want to work with a bunch of drug addicts. If they can’t handle life unless they’re in an altered state, they need to take time off for Psychiatric evaluation. NO Drugs !

No

Reason being the company’s workers compensation. Insurance is expensive if this was passed insurance companies would raise rates and make it more difficult for employers to get insurance for the company and employees.

The potential for accidents due to stoned or drunk employees is higher than for employees that are not.

Well I'm not a smoker, but it's no different than alcohol being legal. You just can't do it during work shift.

Also, if they can now get a job or better job it will ultimately be better for the economy.
