How to overcome social anxiety when interviewing?!
Does anyone have any tips on how to overcome social anxiety when interviewing? I feel it's hindered me from getting hired, I get such bad anxiety I forget how to speak. But once I'm hired and talking to customers and my bosses/team, I'm the most outgoing bubbly, positive person out there...I need help! I wish I could just be honest with them at the start of the interview...."Like I know I look super nervous, and I'm slightly shaking and a bit sweaty...but if you hire me I promise this won't happen when I'm running a team of people" HAHA #hiringevents #socialanxiety #motivation #interviewadvice #jobsearch

Overcoming social anxiety during interviews can be challenging, but here are a few tips that may help:
Preparation: Practice common interview questions and prepare relevant examples to help build confidence.
Breathing exercises: Take deep breaths before and during the interview to help calm your nerves and regulate your breathing.
Visualization: Visualize yourself performing well and feeling confident during the interview. This can help boost your self-belief.
Positive self-talk: Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations. Remind yourself of your qualifications and strengths.
Mock interviews: Conduct mock interviews with a friend or family member to simulate the real interview experience and gain confidence.
Seek support: Consider seeking support from a therapist or counselor who specializes in anxiety if social anxiety significantly affects your day-to-day life.
Remember, you're not alone in this. Utilize Jobcase and other job search providers for additional support, resources, and potential job openings. Good luck!

@Lauren Muir I have social anxiety. When I go on interviews I give myself a pre-interview pep talk and a post- interview run down. When I am in the interview, I remember that all I have to do is speak from my knowledge and keep answers short. Too much information can make you seem like a "circle talker". If they want more information they will ask for it. Go in knowing your selfworth and if they dont call you, it comes down to- it wasnt meant to be your job. Keep the momentum and interview for the next with confidence of having made it through the last.

There might be many sources that cause the anxiety. The biggest reason might because of uncertainty or unfamiliarity about the company, the interview and the ppl you're meeting with. Try to bring something of your comfort along with you. It could be talking specifically about certain aspects of your expertise, or to raise questions that can help reduce those uncertainty.
Whenever I'm doing anything I'm anxious about, I break them into baby steps and check boxes. So you might feel that things are under control, one step at a time. Build a mini steps list to prepare for each interview. You might have come so far more than what you imagined! You GOT THIS. Good luck!

Hi @Lauren Muir Haha, its such an important problem for many.. great topic*
1 - Self Confidence
I'm no psychology expert but before I share a few companies that hire without interviews in customer service, sales, and marketing, I'll just share that the way I overcome that anxiety is by being absolutely sure of my exceptional value in customer service as an agent and as a team manager. So the thing here is to have enough experience and truly awesome achievements in our past work. I know that what I bring to the table, only a handful can offer it. With time ( experience) I learned to compare with peers as to know where I excel, where I suck, the things I can do that NO one else can, etc. This makes me speak with absolute confidence and naturalness, I don't worry about my physical gestures ( Not that I present myself as a flop either) or studying my stuff thru mock interviews, I already know my best achievements and answers to the most common questions by heart..
I think this self-confidence always played a key role. I also like humor so when I mention some examples of my best bold solutions, I'd add stupid things like "it's true that as you can see, in being bold I have an advantage over others" and stuff like that and it always adds points. I speak like if talking to a neighbor I have to respect.
. I don't see any other way to attain confidence than by doing, the experience I mentioned, but outstanding achievements only come by doing what we like, it's always important to pick a job we like. so we can excel and grow in our careers.
2 - Companies that hire without interviews
If you are interested in companies that hire with no interviews, here is my golden list after 20+ years in cust service/management:
In cust service, sales, marketing:
Omniinteractions Working Solutions You have to pass tech, grammar, and personality tests plus customer service skills video recording. You can pause between questions and if you feel you totally messed up during an answer, there are ways to start over.
In VA: Fancy Hands: You pass an easy internet skills test.
In AI: Appen, Telus International, Liveops, Welocalize. These companies hire based on guidelines you have to study and then pass an easy peasy open book quiz. Actually, Telus is a bit tougher but they pay better.
Hope that helped!
