Where can I get training to qualify for a driver job?
I'm looking to enter the delivery industry and would like to learn more about possible training that's needed.
Schneider has a training program to get your CDL and then they will also train you for a driving position.I recomend doing the ports as you can be home everynight.
William there are many ways to go apout this there there is a app called driver pulse and there are several companies with schools that will finance you i would start with swift there number is 1800 800 2200 select new driver option recuter will send a link to tenth street to fill out a 10 year work history if your record come back clean driving record and you can pass a dot drug test in may include hair folical then thay will pay for your bus and house you for the school portion of training if you pass that then they will team you up with a mentor that will train you if you pass that they will give you a over the road job you will need to create a safety score it will take a year to learn the majority of what will make you sucessfull at this
I would try some of these trucking companies that have truck driving academies on site. If not then try try some of the truck driving temp services in your area
William u have to be more specific when u say driver job. Cuz there’s CDL and non cdl. CDL u either have to pay out of pocket $5k or more for the training or find a company that pays for it for u and u just sign a contract for a year or two working for them to pay it back or non cdl u don’t need any training other then just getting behind the wheel of a box truck and driving it. U will need a medical card tho but u can get those for like $90 at a little clinic or if u get hired with a company they usually pay for u to get it when u go for ur drug test.. but that there is the gist of what u have to do to drive in either one.
A trucking school is a business and they will help you get your licence then you will need to sign with a company and teamed up with a mentor they will train you and help you prepare for a life on the road some schools will charge a lot of money for this and you will still be in the same boat uninsurable cause you have no experience swift has good eqiptment and a very good program for this i not working with them now but I did I recomend staying for at least a year to get the experience most companies use the same format in there companies and i am sure you will get back what you put into it it takes time to gain experience in this field but it is worth it after a 2 year good safety record you can just about pick your job and where you want to live the best thing about it is where ever you go you will always be able to find work best wishes and good luck.i was a mentor and trained may drivers and I am about to start doing again soon with my company I recently started with.

William you can either go to a regular truck driving school or you can pick a company that will train you with a 1year contract. That means you would agree to work for that company for 1year in exchange for the training
Go to a accredited truck driving school. Usually you can get it paid through unemployment if your on it. Forget the training schools through the trucking companies. Just go to an outside school. Yo won’t be locked in to a company that way. Just get ready though. Once you get out of school and start with a trucking company you will NOT make any real income for awhile. And just deal with it and take the over the road experience that’s offered because afterwards it will become much easier to get a local job paying hourly. A lot of local trucking companies won’t hire you on unless you have the over the road experience under your belt. Get at least 2 years otr experience
Most companies pay the training. It's expensive out of pocket.
Louis Hansen described the experience as it happened to me. I went through SWIFT trucking academy 6 years ago. Get your class A CDL permit first at DMV. Then go to the trucking school. Most likely it will be a few weeks before you obtain a Class A CDL. Make sure the program will assign you a mentor for at least a few weeks so you can learn about trucking and get practice before you’re on the road. Real important save a couple months of income before you start this. You’re not getting paid well when you first start out, but after a year, you’ve met your obligation to the company and can go where you want.
