What's Going on with Extended Unemployment Benefits?
Several questions here on whether extended benefits are available for anyone who was already collecting unemployment prior to the Coronavirus. Answer: depends on if your state is waiting on federal funds and can meet requirements: "Federal legislation was passed on March 18, 2020 that provides up to 26 weeks of Extended Benefits to qualifying states. To qualify for extended benefits, a state would need to apply for the funds and demonstrate that its unemployment rates have increased by a certain percentage and that it also meets certain requirements regarding claimant access, notifications, and eligibility requirements." source
For example, if you live in #Minnesota , as of 4/1/20 the answer is no because they don't meet the requirements. Meanwhile in #NewYork, you are eligible to receive an additional 13 weeks.

Oh man it's taking me this long to file .I can believe online uiedd every time I got close to submitting a claim they would lock it up .I finly got threw .I understand evebody frustration I'm still without money for bills .I hope I will receive what I'm intiled to most evebody I know got paid why not me .dose anybody know if I'll get back pay for this hole time suffering.?

Just to get regular UI is not happening here in Delaware,, you call no answer you email no response, what's next to do.
Thanks for the advice, John. All I can say is that it depends upon what state you live in determines if you can qualify for an extension of Unemployment benefits.

Thank you for sharing, you have eased a lot of stress. My unemployment expires at the end of this month and I wasn't sure if i qualified for the extension. Good luck to everyone unemployed and lets try and keep our heads up.

I’ve been on unemployment since Jan.1st. I did start a new job on March 17 and only worked 2 days before the office was closed by the state. My payments will run out around July 12. If I don’t get called back to work before that date will I be automatically given the extension or will I have to reopen a claim and hope I get an extra 13 weeks. What is the process moving forward?
