Lost a job and want to share your story?
I work with the Jobcase public relations team and we have a reporter from CNBC doing a story around workers who've lost a job in the midst of coronavirus. CNBC would love to hear from the Jobcase community, and it's a great potential opportunity to share your story, advocate for workers like yourself and boost your work profile!
This would likely be a minimal time investment--perhaps a 15-minute call with CNBC, or whatever you can offer. If interested I'd like to know the following--and we have a 5PM ET deadline (Monday, March 16).
- What kind of work were you doing?
- What kind of assistance is your former employer offering?
- Will you be filing for unemployment benefits, and how do you find it navigating that process?
Responding to me does not guarantee you'd be included, and we will not share your responses or information without your permission.

Today my job just announced furlough. It's a restaurant in DTLA that I've been working at for 4 years. They emailed us that they were going to help us by compensating us all our PTO hours into our next check. The whole issue with that is, for some reason the company took away all our PTO hours at the beginning of this year. All we have are sick hours, but the company isn't even allowing us to use the sick hours either. Basically it is impossible to use our PTO since they took that away and our sick hours are restricted to use. So all workers, including myself, will be recieving no compensation or help. We all though we were going to be taken care of but they basically lied to us. I notified corporate about the error in this "compensation " they speak of but I am still waiting. I hope the word gets out there of how they are treating hard working people. We're trying to be strong but it's really hard right now.

Hi Alicia.
I work in the restaurant industry. I was let go last Monday with nothing. No kinda of pay to speak of. I have tried to apply for unemployment all week but couldn’t get past the 3rd part of the application. I have tried to phone number for unemployment and no one is answering. I am a single mother of three children one of whom Who has heart issues. I am having a hard time trying to decide weather or not to go get a job because I’m afraid of putting my children at risk. I have no clue as to what to do.

I lost my job yesterday along with 150 others. We are/were in the hospitality and flexible work space business. I’m a single mom who just lost everything in a fire two weeks ago. I’m trying to keep it together.

I just lost my job last night along with many others. The owner said he’d hire me back when business picks back up again if I’m still available which truly was heartfelt. I know I’m not alone and will get through this. As our country goes through this turmoil, we will do well to help each other in any way possible. Stay well and I wish you all the best.

I was laid off monday along with many others about 500 contractors from Chevron refinery, we where told 2 weeks or till further notice. The company offer to pay PTO in advance.

I work in a restaurant and we are laid off for minimum 3 weeks. As a server I literally love day to day and I’m wondering if anyone knows of anywhere I can get financial relief funding

I lost my job 5 minutes before they sent out a mass email saying that the office will be closed and that the company stands behind the employees in these unsettling times and that everyone got to work from home. They told me they would send me a prepaid box to send them my laptop and keycard to the building and send me my heater since their office is set at like 50 degrees year round. They let me go because their policy is that if they shut down the office, they pay you for that day. Guess it’s just cheaper getting rid of your hourly employees. For a national well known non profit organization, I expected better than to be dumped over a virus.

I haven't lost my job as yet, but I'm a little concern as as temp worker. The company that I work for offered their workers the opportunity to work from home, but I still have to show up, I'm 55 re-entering the workforce only to possibly be unemployed again soon, or more likely to test positive from exposure since I'm a temp worker. May I also say my prayers go out to us all

Today, I was suppose to start a new job. Since the company's products and services are related to trade shows and conventions they called and advised that they cannot take me on at this time. Understand why. But it really a bummer since I spent 3 mos and spent extra money to get certified to enhance my skill set and now what? Probably, no one will be hiring during this crisis.
Any interest in helping bring a story out into the public involving the wrongful termination and slander of an employee and the company’s attempt to cover it up involving corruption within the District Attorneys office, local police department, and a local lawyer? This person has been fighting a corrupt local system for 3 1/2 years including an 11-1 mistrial in his favor of not guilty near the end of the 3rd year . The state is objecting to the motion to dismiss and a retrial date is pending
