No hope

I been looking for a job for 8 months now. I’m 56 years old and have plenty of experience but can’t find a decent job. I don’t know what is going to take place for me. I’m numb right now. I really wish I was dead. My kids have used me up. Now I’m left with nothing. I don’t know what these jobs want but what ever it is I don’t have it. I feel like I’m getting ready to be homeless. I have no car to make it around. I’m not able to pay anything. I’m broke and feeling like this is the end for me

Cheryl Mitchell, Hang on Help Is On The Way. God is Always in the midst and ready and willing to help you in your time of need. I am 53 years old and got let go from my last full time position back in November of 2016. I was able to work in the Public School system as a substitute teacher and I started working with LYFT and I didn't have a car. I was able to rent a car to start off. It was a little challenging but I made it through. Unfortunately, I was involved in an automobile accident and was recently out of work for about 7 months. But, I got up and got busy and landed two work from home opportunities and I work in the grocery stores, Walmart and Target doing sampling and demos. We are living in a world of uncertainty and change at the drop of a dime. God is the only thing that is never changing and consistent. Let God be your Guide in Life.!!!

I’m so sorry to hear how about your current circumstances Cheryl Mitchell but please try to remember that YOU are not your circumstances. You’re much greater than that! Unemployment and underemployment are unfortunately quite common for highly experienced professionals like you and a great many other community members who have expressed a similar sentiment in this community so please understand... you are not alone.

I know right now you might think that there’s no way out of your current situation but you can overcome these circumstances if you remain positive, persistent, and hopeful. Jacqueline Scott was experiencing a similar job search journey until she decided to trust the "law of attraction" by focusing on being happy and believing that the universe would yield and bring the right opportunity her way, see Awesome Job Offer!!!!!!!.

You also need to find your paradigm shift moment Cheryl Mitchell but first you need to identify some coping mechanisms in order to stay focused and encouraged during your job search. Patrick Coppedge wrote a fantastic post Coping with a prolonged job search where he describes how you can manage your expectations and identify strategies that will support your mental and spiritual well being during your job search. There’s really some great information in that conversation. Please take a moment and give it a quick read when you have an opportunity.

The Finance work background you show on your Jobcase profile is very impressive! It seems like you’ve managed to secure excellent job opportunities within some very reputable companies in the past so I’m very confident that you can do the same now. Are you still looking for job opportunities in Finance or are you open to other industries? I’m going to tag other community members Anthony Harrington and Paul Vivier who also live in your area in case they know of any immediate hiring opportunities or know of any local help resources you can access to assist you with transportation and/or other needs while you get back on your feet.

Have you ever considered work from home job opportunities? There are several companies offering legitimate work from home jobs in client services and technical support. This could be a good career option while work out your transportation. I’ll include the job description and application information for a customer information management company that’s currently hiring below for your review. Let me know if you have other job interests and I’ll be happy to forward you job leads with companies who are immediately hiring.

What’s most important for you right now Cheryl Mitchell is to find encouragement and I promise that myself and other members in this community will be here to support and assist you along your journey. You are not alone! Hope this message finds you well.

Hi Cheryl Mitchell ,

It's going to work out. You said it yourself, you have plenty of experience! You will be able to find a job, it just also seems that when we are on the job search that it takes longer than we'd imagine it would to find something.

Tell me, what do you envision as your ideal job right now? Once you have that answer, do me a quick little favor and see yourself doing it. I want you to see yourself succeeding, and finding joy in the little moments like listening to your favorite song on the way to work to get you in a great mood when you walk in the door. Can you do that? If you can do that, you can find a job that will help you solve your financial issues.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you want to chat or want some resume/interview advice! Myself and other community members are here for you and believe in you!

Hi Cheryl,

I'm very sorry to hear you are hurting and understand how a job search can be very frustrating. The important thing to know is that you are not alone. Sometimes it’s tough to see beyond the present, but the way you’re feeling will change, so please don’t give up.

I really encourage you to speak with someone to discuss how you’re feeling and get suggestions. You might try visiting the Anxiety and Depression Association of America site for additional information or the NAMI Helpline for confidential, free support over the phone.

Hang in there and know we are in your corner.

Sincerely, Laila
