My advice to people interested in working at #Gilmerwarehouse as a #Teamlead ...

If you got bills to pay...don't quit until you find another job...& that place doesn't care for it's workers..it's never you did a good job..just a bunch of complaints& suspensions..

workplace teamwork hypocrisy

it's ironic that the companies that i have worked for that seem to really promote teamwork are the same companies where teamwork is least put in practice. i don't mind helping others but when i was working in these teamwork first places i never got any help and the management never seemed to care one way or the other . i still don't mind helping others but if i have a co-worker who i sense only socializes/associates with me to use me for their gain then my response is "i'll help you if you'll help me. " , which i have never had a taker . fortunately i am finally with a company that is void of uncaring supervisors and self centered employees..

The best thing I learned from my job was...

I LOVED working there,or some of the managers were sweet but you always have those nasty managers the ones that make your job hard to be at because they put you in a uncomfortable work environment. I had to leave I wasn't happy there anymore I was never down for nasty attitudes for no reason...I came in there with a smile everyday ready to work even when I was sad and going through a lot and they wanted to keep poking when I was down...I didn't need it so I left.

Caught You Nodding off at work!

HAHA, Wouldn’t you agree that the typical work day in the US is more like 12-14 hours NOT 8? Sleep researchers claim “Power Naps” improve memory, cognitive functions, productivity, creativity, and alertness so why haven’t we incorporated this practice into our work lives yet?

I have a life, you know?

I started working at this small-ish tech company about 6 months ago. It's pretty good, but I feel like they expect me to be at all these events outside of working hours. They set up volunteering events, sports games, and even do races together. On top of that, they frequently have in office parties - maybe once or twice a month. My team manager is always trying to get the whole team to do some of these together so we can have some "team bonding." The thing is I have all these other things I do once I get off work. I try to go to a couple of these events, but I just can't do it as much as they might think I should. I have other interests that help me unwind from the day at work. Anyone else in a similar situation?

What would you do?

I would really like your advice. I work as a Trainer/Supervisor (dual role) for a call center. I love training new employees & coaching, but supervising them has been extremely frustrating. They are rude & disrespectful in front of everyone at times. I have told my boss about this several times. I even asked him to tell them to address me with respect and tell them they will be written up for insubordination if it continues. He refused and said he doesn't want to lead by fear. He told me to examine my body language and word choice to see if it could have set them off. The irony is he became angry and harsh with one employee when she was disrespectful to him and fired another employee when she was disrespectful to him. I have an MBA with a concentration in marketing. I'm starting to feel it's time to move on. What would you do?
