Death of a dream?
So here I am...wanting to be a teacher for many years now. Went back to school to finish my degree. Told myself I wanted to have my Bachelors and Teaching credentials before I was 40. Did it (with 3 months to spare).
Two weeks after getting my BA, I started my Masters in Education program. I worked a full time 40 hour a week job, did my student teaching AND held 3 grad school classes a semester for many months. Got laid off, started substitute teaching (while still working on my Masters), managed to get hired as a teacher in 2012....then was unceremoniously and unethically forced to resign in 2015 by a principal who had no morals, ethics, or professionalism.
Now here it is...the start of yest another school year and I STILL can't even land an interview for a classroom. 3 summers, over 300 applications, only got 4 calls over the total 3 years. I can not seem to figure out how school districts can see someone who dedicated themselves to education like I did in short order and NOT see that individual as someone to at least talk to.
Nor can I understand how corporations can not see how someone who was a teacher and holds a M.Ed is NOT a viable candidate for a training/instructional design position. It is EXACTLY what teachers do! We train and we design lessons! Why is it so hard to get someone to look at you, see what you dedicated yourself to, and give you a chance nowadays?
Is there any company who even look at a resume or application in person instead of relying on "proven" resume analyzing software to find the "best candidates" just because of key words? Whatever happened to looking someone in the eyes, hearing the conviction in their voice? I just want to be given an opportunity to shine again!

A #stressful #Abby'sChildEnrichmentCenter day
Working in the big kids classroom was very stressful. Having to keep them busy was hard, the kids now days at home are on their games a lot & don't understand why they can't be on them at school too. I had to be creative in order to keep them busy. Each age has different issues & you just have to learn to. E creative. I try & do a good job.

My time as a #Englishtrainer at #Kennedylanguages helped me
kennedy languages was not the best agency I worked with in Madrid, Spain. friendly helpful and highly organized with a web platform for account ability o For teaching. They gave me lots of companies of exceptional quality with enthusiastic students.

retired but looking for work as an instructor
I use to teach at a local college and taught computers and Microsoft Word and Excel. To keep myself busy, I go around to the public libraries and show seniors how to get around computers. A lot of people want to know how to email and post pictures and just learn on how to get on the internet and surf. I get a kick out of people coming up and thanking me for showing them the way. I would love to get back to teaching everyone how the pc's work.

What a wonderful thing. To teach children how important their teeth are and how to take care of them. My father was a dentist. Kindest person I ever knew and many years ago these programs were not considered that important. Thank heavens that has all changed. IT IS SOOOOO IMPORTANT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. .....BEGINNING YOUNG ..... J. DESTEFANO
