It was a great job and we had flexible hours we could work . I did data entry at 13,000 key strokes per hour
I was helping adults and children in need and hoping my assistance would lead them in living more productive lives full of enrichment and hope.
The money. I took the job as a last ditch effort before getting divorced. I truly hate the business, its people, and its pay.
I was in charge of my bay and kept it clean organized it on overtime on Saturday. I did maintenance on overhead crane.
They need to treat their employees better
Working for the State of California offers numerous learning and growth opportunities. Much of what I have learned far surpasses anything I picked up taking college courses towards earning my degree. As former Chrysler Corporation chief executive officer Lee Iaococa once advised, “Learn as much as you can … Earn as much as you can.” From those words coupled with my experience, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for professional development.
I worked at camp Blanding army natl guard base for the state of Florida for 8 years and it was the worst experience I ever had if you work hard don't like thieves liars and backstabbers then run from this the pay is low and the environment is detrimental to your health
It treated me extremely well for over 37 years. They train their employees very well and there's always opportunities for advancement. Excellent company to work for.
Working at the State was one of the most bizarre and stressful experiences of my entire 47 year career. State government operates totally different from every other business entity. Most of the State employees have been in service for 20 years or more and many of them have never worked any place else - so therefore they don't have the knowledge of diversity or other workplace customs/protocols. Because the State employees have worked together many years - there's a tendency for "cliques" to be formed. As such, they view new employees as "outsiders" and they band together. There's a high level of favoritism also. The State has many outdated, inefficient work processes and they are not very open to suggestions for implementing new work techniques/processes to improve efficiency and productivity. The best thing I can say about my job at the State was the paid time off (they have a lot of holidays) and my flex work time (I was able to change my work schedule from 10am - 6pm). Overall, working at the State was the worst job in my entire career. I do not regret leaving that job.
Everyday for 36 years was an adventure. I loved finding solutions between managers and employees. There were far more good days than bad. They became my family and I would have still worked there but my husband wanted to experience life before were to old.
