in limbo now

I am a 54 year old college graduate. I just graduated last August and I now have an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. I don't have a lot of experience. I have gone from job to job and one company folded that I temped for Head Starts (3-5 mostly). I work with a temp agency and substitute primarily in public preschool. I want to work in special ed field. My Sister-in law told me it was too late to continue my education. What do you think? I don't want to work in temporary positions any more especially preschool. This type of school is too fast paced and I don't have enough stamina. Any ideas what I should do? I"m interested in special ed and therapy.
