Fired without a Reason Being Given

I don't think I am asking a question just venting at this point. I am a woman who is almost 60 years old who happen to work as a Security Officer until a few days ago. I had a steady post at a mall in Las Vegas for the past 3 years. Recently quite a few people have been let go, but so far they had reasons for letting them go, no call no shows, too many write ups, calling off too often. I was at work everyday early, never got written up for anything, never called off. I worked extra days most times when they asked, stayed hours beyond my shift when asked. A few days ago I got called in the office and was told the contract was up for renewal and the mall management did not want me there and as the client is the boss they had to let me go from that post. I was told that I was not being fired from the security company just from the mall post. I asked why, and asked if I had done something wrong. The Security Director claimed he did not know why and he was just the messenger. I think he is full of BS. You see I have had Arthritis in my feet for quite a few years , but in the last year it has gotten worse causing extreme pain walking for 8, 10, or 12 hours. I went to see my VA doctor, but before I went I talked to the Assistant Director and let her know I thought the doctor was going to put restrictions on how much I could walk, I was concerned that I would lose my job, she assured me I would not.I could be made mobile outside. Well the doctors found severe Arthritis, bone spurs and osteoporosis of the bones in my feet and limited me to no more than 2 hours of walking or standing on a shift. I was made a mobile officer. I do not believe the Director was on board with me just being mobile and the Assistant did not ask him before she made this promise. Neither had the guts to say this, so they blamed it on Mall Management.I do also realize since I live in Nevada they don't have to give me a reason to let me go. Needless to say any other post the company currently has would be foot patrol which I cannot do. I am going to try to put a positive spin on this situation. I have been want to start my own business for a while. I flip furniture, also build furniture, make curtains and drapery and will on occasion repair furniture. Just did not have the time. Problem is now I have time but no money to finance such a venture. While I may be able to collect unemployment it will be just enough to cover bills and living expenses. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Surveillance Supervisor

Im currently a Surveillance Supervisor (casino) and im now seeking employment. Im seeking employment due not being interviewed for a manager position. My skill set ranks above the rest of my supervisors, i get along with my staff, and this has really disturbed me. I been a supervisor for 10 years and i love my job, but i think its time for me leave. I worked in casino industry for the 15 years and i was wondering what other jobs i can apply for with my experience. I consider myself as an excellent supervisor but not getting the recognize that i deserve.

Office Security

Should I lock my computer before going to lunch? I work for a small company that employs 5 other customer support representatives in this department. The company doesn’t have a set employee policy for locking computers and everyone’s real nonchalant about securing their computers whenever they walk away from their workstations. We support customers on a technical level in this area so we don’t process any credit card payments but we do have access to customer address and phone numbers. I don’t want to stand out as the only paranoid employee in the office but isn’t this something I should be concerned about?
